Greetings to all as we come to the end of this eventful summer. I pray that you and your loved ones are healthy and safe, and that you have been able to find peace during these challenging times. I especially hold in prayer our members on the front lines of fighting COVID-19. Many educators, chaplains, psychotherapists and practitioners who serve in hospitals and health care centers, mental health practices, and other settings deserve our thanks for their generous service. We pray for all who suffer from racial injustice and we work for a more equal and just society. Finally, I offer prayers for all who have felt the wrath of the most recent hurricanes. What an end to the summer, and we still have a few days to go in August!

Deadline to apply for open positions is August 31, 2020
The good work of ACPE is accomplished by dedicated volunteers who give their time, energy, passion, and talent to the important work of the organization. The international healing and transformational work of ACPE reaches far and wide. With the new governance structure, the association has been able to broaden its reach of spiritual care and education.
The Leadership Development Committee (LDC) is committed to continuing to build a strong, diverse leadership structure in the organization. The LDC works with commission and committee chairs to match the gifts of ACPE members with organizational needs. As you know, ACPE's leadership structure supports advocacy work, strengthens our organizational connections here and around the world, attends to the professional development and well-being of its members, ensures our work is ethically and financially responsible, and oversees robust certification and accreditation processes. The Leadership Development Committee is committed to ensuring this vital work is seamless and ongoing.

Our new Certification process began in January 2018. Since its inception, we have welcomed over 100 CECs into the process. We have celebrated the certification of our first aspirants to complete the new process and many more have completed Phase I and are making their way through Phase II.
In our ongoing oversight of the process and to best support centers in their work, the Certification Commission is soliciting successful practices from centers that have helped their CECs succeed and thrive in the Certification process. The Commission will review all submissions and in addition to sharing them with the larger ACPE community in this forum, will also create a CEC Resources Page in SharePoint to share these practices and additional resources. Having a repository of successful practices and resources for Certified Educator Candidates is of prime importance to the Certification Commission. We hope to gather successful, workable, and a nice variety of practices that will help Educators and CECs stay connected during the Certification Process.

| Quarterly Accreditation Billing |
Due to the implementation of ACPE's new database, the quarterly billing for accreditation fees for the second quarter (4/1/2020 to 6/30/2020) was delayed. Second quarter accreditation fee invoices were sent last week. Third quarter billing will resume as regularly scheduled in October.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we improve our systems to better serve you. If you questions about the quarterly billing, please send them to accounting@acpe.edu.

After almost 25 years, ACPE upgraded its database. On August 5th, ACPE launched Nimble AMS built on Salesforce. In conjunction with the launch of the new database, ACPE also introduced a new website (a necessary move because the website is built on the database). You can still find us at www.acpe.edu. The goal of the project is to strengthen chaplaincy degree programs at schools across the country. Beginning with the redesign of courses within theological schools, we can start to think on a pedagogical level about transforming the ways in which chaplains are trained and spiritual care is provided.
If you are a theological educator teaching a course on chaplaincy and/or spiritual care, you are invited to join the project!
- The deadline to apply is September 1, 2020.
- Participating educators will receive a stipend to support their work.

Thanks to all of you who have made our Virtual Educator Gatherings and our Virtual Psychotherapist Gatherings a vital place to connect, debrief, and share ideas during these uncertain times. We will continue to offer one meeting time each week for both Educators and Psychotherapists. Please drop in as you are able; no registration is required. ACPE's Advocacy Committee, Curriculum Committee, and Anti-Bias Task Force is presenting a series of eight pre-recorded webinars addressing issues of race and racism. No registration is required; each is a self-guided endeavor.
Based on feedback, the 8:46 series is pausing delivery of new content briefly, to allow for absorption of the content already delivered, and to make a little breathing space for those of us orienting fall students.
Subsequent episodes will drop on a roughly every-other-week schedule. Stay tuned!

The lover who hypnotizes you,

Parenting is an art, informed by science, refined through practice, improved through practice. And so much of what it was has been redefined as we have been quarantined, isolated, and, depending on the age of the children, thrust into homeschooling. In the early days of May 2020, my career plans changed when my employer, a parochial school, informed me that they were dismissing me. The reason was that I was no longer a good fit for the school. When the president of the school gave me the notification, I was not angered by it. I was relieved by the information because I had not been happy with the teaching profession since I started two years prior. I had an intuition that there was going to be a change with my career plans but did not know when it was going to happen.

The Baha'i calendar has nineteen months, all named after attributes of God. 'Izzat is the Arabic word for might. The word "feast" suggests that a large meal will be served, but that is not necessary for a Bahá'í Feast. The use of the term "feast," in this case, means that the community should enjoy a "spiritual feast" of worship, fellowship and unity - although refreshments are usually available.

- ACPE Retired Educator Sister Agnes Mary Joy M.M. died. Sister Agnes Mary Joy, M.M. died on August 13th, 2020 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center, Maryknoll. NY. She was 89 years old and had been a Maryknoll Sister for 66 years. Her memorial video can be viewed here.
