For May 1 we will read the second half of chapter 4 of The Misunderstood Jew, by Amy-Jill Levine. We will start on page 142. Also, several of us have read chapter 7, which is a recap of the premise of the book. All are encouraged to read chapter 7 now, as it will help us understand what the author is trying to teach.

YOUTH GROUP DATES IN APRIL

The last Youth Group of Spring 2024 was on April 21st. Youth Sunday is today, April 28^th !

FREE PILATES CLASS CONTINUES MONDAYS AT 6PM

Pilates class is back in session! Please join us on Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m. for a fun, all levels Mat Pilates class. All are welcome; no experience necessary. Bring a yoga mat and a towel (hand or dish towel size at least). Please enter by the children's school doors in the back. We meet in the Parish Hall. Marcia will be there at 5:30 p.m. for anyone who has questions about specific exercises in the class or needs exercises or modifications to help with back, shoulder, or knee pain or any other condition. Questions contact Marcia at marcia.noble27@gmail.com.

 I would like to extend a warm invitation to you for our ongoing Bible study series on the First Letter of St. John! We will not have Sunday school today, so that the children can enjoy the Youth Sunday service led by Ascension’s Youth Group. It is also a One Ascension (1A) Sunday which will be followed by a pizza lunch. TAMALES SALE

Here is information about tamales - because we are approaching the date when we are going to sell two different kinds of tamales. The sale is scheduled for Sunday May 19. Here are the choices:

--- Vegetarian Tamal or Raja; contains maseca (corn flour), vegetable oil, tomatoes, onion, cheese and poblano chili wrapped in corn husks

--- Tamal de Mole; contains maseca (corn flour), chicken, guajillo chili, onion, garlic, pepper, and cumin, wrapped in banana leaves.

The cost of each tamale is $3.50 each. More information about the tamale sale will be provided. The last day to order will be a week from today, on Sunday May 5th. We are sure you will enjoy these delicious and appetizing tamales.

Next month, on June 9th, we will have a class on how to prepare tamales for all interested people. We hope to have a good group for this activity. All are welcome.

By planting native plants, we can take part in conserving nature (God’s Creation). When we conserve nature, we are not only taking care of wildlife but we are also taking care of ourselves. Would you like to learn how to create a native garden in your yard? Would you like to learn more about native plant resources including financial aid and rebate information? Are you thinking about making a pledge to receive a free native plant starter kit for your garden? Then you will want to join the National Wildlife Federation virtually from 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2^nd to learn from experts about how you can create a wildlife habitat and protect our local streams by planting native plants. VENTA DE TAMALES 

Aquí está la información sobre los tamales - porque nos estamos acercando a la fecha en que vamos a vender dos tipos diferentes de tamales. La venta está programada para el domingo 19 de mayo. Aquí están las opciones: 

--- Tamal Vegetariano o Raja; contiene maseca (harina de maíz), aceite vegetal, jitomate, cebolla, queso y chile poblano envuelto en hoja de maíz.

--- Tamal de Mole; contiene maseca (harina de maíz), pollo, chile guajillo, cebolla, ajo, pimienta y comino, envuelto en hojas de plátano.

El precio de cada tamal es de 3,50 dólares. Se proporcionará más información sobre la venta de tamales. El último día para ordenar será dentro de una semana, el domingo 5 de mayo. Estamos seguros de que disfrutarán de estos deliciosos y apetitosos tamales. 

El próximo mes, el 9 de junio, tendremos una clase sobre cómo preparar tamales para todas las personas interesadas. Esperamos contar con un buen grupo para esta actividad. Todos son bienvenidos.

Al plantar plantas nativas, podemos participar en la conservación de la naturaleza (la Creación de Dios). Cuando conservamos la naturaleza, no sólo estamos cuidando de la vida silvestre, sino que también estamos cuidando de nosotros mismos. ¿Le gustaría aprender a crear un jardín autóctono en su jardín? ¿Le gustaría saber más sobre los recursos de plantas autóctonas, incluidas ayudas económicas e información sobre reembolsos? ¿Está pensando en comprometerse a recibir un kit gratuito de plantas autóctonas para su jardín? Entonces querrá unirse a la National Wildlife Federation virtualmente a partir de las 7:30 p.m. el jueves 2 de mayo para aprender de expertos sobre cómo puede crear un hábitat de vida silvestre y proteger nuestros arroyos locales plantando plantas nativas.
