Pastor Dave offers weekly devotions called "Church Where You Are" for individuals and families. If you are unable to be at worship on Sunday, or if you are simply looking for a weekly family devotional, "Church Where You Are" is located on our Bethel website each week.
God is often at work through the ordinary: ordinary people, ordinary objects, ordinary grace. Through the ordinary, God communicates epiphanies, salvation, revelation, and reconciliation. It is through the mundane that we hear God's quiet voice.

In this devotion for the season of Lent, Jill J. Duffield draws readers' attention to ten ordinary objects that Jesus would have encountered on his way to Jerusalem: dust, bread, the cross, coins, shoes, oil, coats, towels, thorns, and stones. In each object, readers will find meaning in the biblical account of Jesus' final days. Each week, readers encounter a new object to consider through Scripture, prayer, and reflection. From Ash Wednesday to Easter, Lent in Plain Sight reminds Christians to open ourselves to the kingdom of God.

You are invited to purchase this book as a devotion for the Lenten season. We will be using these "objects" each week as part of our virtual midweek worship experiences.

We will offer virtual midweek worship experiences March 10,17, 24 and 31.

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday, March 28.

Maundy Thursday is April 1. Good Friday is April 2. Easter Sunday is April 4.

At this time all services will be virtual. However, as Covid-19 is a fluid situation, things could change, especially as warmer weather arrives. It is possible some of these services will be outside and our hope is to do so as soon as possible.

“Jesus looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury; he also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins.”  Luke 21:1
Servant Ideas:

- Write down some ideas about how we can “see” the needs in our community and how we can meet those needs. Encourage little Lutherans in your household to gather loose change, look for coins on the ground, and start a coin jar, to collect and give to a need in your community. Consider going to a local laundromat and leaving quarters there for others in need to use.

- In John 2:15, Jesus drove everyone out of the temple and poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.  Jill suggests that how we earn and use our coins matters to Jesus. How does your earning and spending reflect your Christian beliefs? Through our purchases, how do we participate in systems that may exploit others? What can we do about such practices and systems?
We will be collecting food, personal care items and cleaning products for the Lenten food drive from Sunday, February 28th through Sunday, March 21st. There will be a tote at the back door of discipleship hall for donations.

The Frederick County Social Services Department hopes to gather enough items to fill 15 Easter baskets for the elderly and disabled clients on their caseloads.

Food Items, personal care items, and cleaning items are always welcomed; e.g. peanut butter, breakfast items, coffee, canned meats, spaghetti and pasta, mac and cheese, canned fruits and vegetables, beans, diabetic foods, sugar free juices. Paper products such as paper towels, tissues, toilet paper and personal care items such as shampoo, soaps, and deodorants. Cleaning items are expensive and can be donated, too.

For those who don't like to shop, please consider mailing grocery and Walmart gift cards to Karen Shipp. The money will be used to purchase meat and fresh fruits. Karen's mailing address is 113 Proclamation Drive, Winchester, 22603. Karen will let Kim Williams know of any monetary donations. If you have any questions, please call Karen at 540-667-7677.
CCAP is having an Easter Giveaway on March 27th and they are looking for donations of boxed potatoes, hams, or gift cards to Walmart/Costco.

Donations can be accepted at CCAP Monday through Friday- 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, you can mail them a donation or gift card to 112 South Kent St. Winchester VA 22601 or you can go to their website and donate electronically: Make a Contribution to CCAP
