Sacrament of Holy Baptism and Reception of New Members

Please join us this Sunday for the baptism of Collier Wilson Kuhn, son of Kayla and Edwin Kuhn and little brother of Win Kuhn, as well as welcoming several new members to the church. Lauren Carlson, who has been active in the church for a few years, joins us through transfer of her membership from The Congregational Church of New Canaan in Connecticut, Alex Lambrinos joins us from St. Aoloysus Parrish in New Canaan, Connecticut, and Thomas Stubbs who joins us through transfer of membership from Myers Park Presbyterian in Charlotte. We hope that you will welcome them with open arms and the Love of God.

Dear church family,

As many of you know Dilworth UMC has a long-standing history of ministry in early childhood formation and education, including kindergarten, preschool, and even full-day childcare. Our desire is for this to continue for generations to come. I'm saddened to report that at this time, our half-day preschool program, Dilworth Weekday School, is undergoing a challenge to its present ministry. The Charlotte Fire Department has let us know that we are in violation of current fire codes by having children under the age of 2nd grade on a non-ground-level floor. We have been in talks with the Fire Marshal to what we believe is misinterpretation of different codes to no avail and are now at the place of legally appealing to the state. There are many half-day programs on upper-level floors in churches across the state who may soon be facing the same challenge. Know that this affects our half-day program and not our full-day childcare located on the first floor. I ask for your support for this ministry that is vital to the life of our church and surrounding community. It is one of the ways we share the love of Jesus Christ on a daily basis. If this program has to be shut down it will be a hardship to parents, children, and teachers alike. Please be in prayer for all involved that a just resolution will be met, and if you know any of the parents or teachers, please provide them your support.  We are hopeful for a positive outcome and will let you know the outcome as it unfolds. Join me in firm faith that God walks with us through this and all of life.

Update: The church has hired TLG law firm to handle this case and we have received confirmation, from the state, that our appeal has been filed. We will communicate updates periodically.

In God's love, Pastor Michelle

Altar Flowers

The beautiful flowers for the altar for Sunday are given in memory of Kelley Phifer Brown, the daughter of Pat and Inez Phifer, and the Mama of Adam and Madie Brown. Kelley returned home to be with Jesus on February 18, 2005, after a battle with breast cancer. Her memory will always live in our hearts and her extended family.

Altar Flower Sign-Ups
If you would like to provide the altar flowers for Sunday Worship there are a few ways to sign-up to do so. If you are at the church, you can come by Madison Rubottom's office and use the sign-up sheet posted on her door. If you would prefer to sign-up online, here is the link to our altar flower sign-up genius. If you have any questions you can email Madison, madison.rubottom@dilworthchurch.org, or drop by her office!
GIVE!
Love your neighbor through gifts of time, talents, and financial gifts.

February Mission Project

This year we will be doing local quarterly projects instead of Project AGAPE due to warehousing issues in Armenia. During February we are making DENTAL KITS for Classroom Central. These kits will be given to children in low-income schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. Please help us create 120 kits by purchasing small toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash through the wishlist below and have them sent directly to the church. Contact Katie McCraw or Jennifer Snelson if you have questions.
