Limestone Makes Big Jump In Regional Rankings, Scores High In Value By

U.S. News & World Report

The U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges report is out for 2022-2023, and Limestone University made one of the greatest jumps in the regional rankings while also scoring highly in affordability.

Moving up eight spots to No.45 in the grouping of Best Regional Colleges In The South, Limestone is one of the top 10 movers in this year’s rankings. Limestone is one of only four private institutions from South Carolina ranked in the top 50 in the grouping of Best Regional Colleges In The South.

The Best Regional Colleges ranking highlights institutions that focus on undergraduate education but grant fewer than half their degrees in liberal arts disciplines.

One of only three private institutions from South Carolina in the top 30, Limestone ranked No.23 in the Best Value Schools category for Regional Colleges In The South.

The Best Value Schools rankings incorporate the overall ranking, but also credit schools for the amount of financial support made available to students with need.

For all of its rankings this year, U.S. News & World Report assessed 1,500 United States bachelor's degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality. Some of the ranking indicators include student-faculty ratio, average federal loan debt of graduates, academic majors offered, application requirements, tuition, financial aid policies, student body demographics, campus life, and post-graduate earnings data by undergraduate focus.

“These latest rankings accentuate the forward momentum that continues to build here at our University,” said Limestone President Dr. Darrell Parker. “We are certainly proud to be one of the biggest movers in the regional rankings, while also continuing to score highly when it comes to value. The latest rankings are a testimony to the commitment of our faculty and staff and to the quality of students we are attracting.”

Limestone Named One Of The

Best Colleges For Veterans

Limestone University received high marks in the Best Colleges for Veterans rankings for 2022-2023 that were recently released by U.S. News & World Report.

In the publication’s Best Colleges report, Limestone was ranked the 11th best institution in the South for veterans. Limestone was the only private school in South Carolina to make the top 12.

U.S. News & World Report publishes the Best Colleges for Veterans rankings to provide data on top-ranked schools that make pursuing a college education more affordable for veterans and active-duty service members. As part of U.S. News' annual statistical survey of undergraduate schools conducted in the spring and summer of 2022, schools reported their enrollment of and benefits for veterans and active-duty service members.

“We are delighted that Limestone has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for its dedication to serving the needs of our military students,” said the University’s Director of Military Services Christina Lievsay. “Whether on-campus or through our Online Program, we truly value our military veteran students. We are here to assist them in any way possible. In addition to military tuition discounts, we are here to help maximize the education benefits, including the GI Bill, Military Tuition Assistance, and financial aid.”

Reception Today At 6 P.M. For

"Carolina Color Study" Exhibit

The Limestone University Art Gallery will host a “Carolina Color Study” reception and talk from Upstate Artist Sarah Mandell today at 6 p.m.

The current exhibit opened in early August at the Hines & Riggins Center and runs through Wednesday, Sept. 26. Admission is free, and the Gallery is open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Visitors should not expect to see the traditional paintings, pottery, or stone sculptures often associated with art exhibits. Instead, Mandell’s artistic work is a signature style of two-dimensional fiber art.

It is that distinct style that caught the eye of Gallery Director Emily Tuttle. “She pushes the traditional definition of what 'fine art’ is, and what media we use under that concept,” Tuttle explained.

“Carolina Color Study” showcases some familiar scenes, though, as Mandell uses needle felted wool fiber, wool yarns, and wool fabric strips to craft landscapes and abstract color studies inspired by the state of South Carolina.

Mandell, who grew up in Maryland, moved to South Carolina in 2010. She is a 2005 graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in environmental design. In addition to her work with fibers, she creates handmade jewelry and photography. She is also an interior designer and the author of two books. “Carolina Color Study” will be her first solo exhibition.
