We have made it through the end of another school year! This also means that summer vacations will be in full swing through mid-August. The Stewardship committee would like to remind you that the needs of the church are still here, even when we, the members, are not. Please make every effort to continue making your regular, pledged gifts to support the operations and ministries of Saxe Gotha during the summer months. Consider mailing your pledge, or having your pledge debited from your checking account.

Through God's grace, since the Debt Free in 3 (DF3) campaign began in the summer of 2016, Saxe Gotha's debt has been reduced by just over 1 MILLION DOLLARS!  Thank you to those who have donated above and beyond your designated pledged giving, and have been involved in various fundraising efforts for DF3. The remaining balance is just over $1.2 million, with about fourteen months left to go before the loan must be either paid in full or renegotiated. Let's continue to chip away at the church's debt so that we may best leverage our resources to proclaim the Word of the Lord and build His kingdom.

Finally, giving of our financial resources is only one part of stewardship. The offering of our time and talents is also vital in the life of the Church. Opportunities to share your time and talents this summer include Vacation Bible School (June 18-22), assisting with the DF3 yard sale (including helping to organize donations during the week of July 16) and Migrant Ministry (Tuesday evenings, beginning  June 5).

Let us cheerfully return to the Lord a portion of the gifts of time, talent and treasure He has so graciously bestowed upon us.

Special Request from Helen Harrison Coker:
I am currently working on my Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. For one of my courses, I must conduct a church-wide survey on the health of our congregation.  The Session has approved for our church to engage in a listening exercise provided by Leadership Transformations, Inc.  From June 1, 2018 to June 22, 2018, we'll be conducting a church-wide survey called the Church Health Assessment Tool (CHATSM).  This web-based survey will allow us to collect valuable feedback from the congregation regarding your views on our church health.  This tool is based on the "10 Traits of Vital Ministry" from the book Becoming a Healthy Church  by Dr. Stephen A. Macchia.  We welcome all congregants [15 years old and up] to participate in the survey.  Please take this opportunity to share your thoughts with us.
To participate in the survey before June 22, 2018:
1.  Get on the internet and go to www.HealthyChurch.net
2.  Click on the button that says "Take the Survey" on the left side of the screen.
3.  Use the following information to log in:
                  Login: SaxeGotha
                  Password: GiveGodJoy
Give us your honest feedback. (The survey takes 20-25 minutes to complete.) If you don't have a computer/internet access, contact Helen Harrison Coker at 359-7770  or at
hcoker@saxegotha.org,  and we can arrange for you to fill out a paper version of the survey.  Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you for your help and for your time!
Fall Sermon Series and Small Groups: "We Were Made for Relationships." Starting September 9, we will begin a 6-week study "40 Days of Love" by Rick Warren. We would like to put together a list of small group leaders and locations, much like we did for "40 Days in the Word" a few years ago. Please let Helen Harrison Coker know if you are able to lead a group: hcoker@saxegotha.org. There is a leaders guide and video lesson for each week, so all you really need is a location (home, office, school) to host a small group.
Summer Combined Sunday School: (Through July 29) Room 151 MB, 9:45 -10:30 am. Any and all adults are welcome to join us, whether they go to Sunday school on a regular basis or not. We will study Colossians, along with the sermon series. Questions? Contact HH Coker at hcoker@saxegotha.org or 359-7770 ext. 40.

Stephen Ministry  is our congregation's one-to-one care giving ministry. These connections are confidential and matched up by gender. God works through Stephen Ministers to plant a seed of hope and healing in a person whose life seems barren and forlorn because of crisis or tragedy.  What do Stephen Ministers do?  These individuals listen to people in need, explore feelings, pray, share Christ's love, maintain confidentiality, and attend to the care-giving process, while leaving the results to God.  Stephen Ministers have big hearts.  If you are feeling unloved or need a friend, contact  Carol Perrin  at (803)917-6690 , the referral coordinator. Please know that your identity and requests are kept confidential.
