This Week at St. Margaret's
Weekly News from St. Margaret of Scotland Parish
| | |
Scammers are increasingly targeting churches and parishes, often using advanced AI technology to appear legitimate.
Please be aware that the Diocese and your parish will NEVER make direct phone calls requesting banking information or asking you to change your donation details.
If you receive a suspicious call, email, or message claiming to be from the Church, do not respond or provide any personal information.
We received this letter from Angela Laville, the Diocesan Finance Officer this week:
To All Locations:
We have been made aware of a telephone scam seeking to get donors to redirect their donations to a different bank account. The caller falsely represents themselves as a representative of the Diocese and the parish. The caller claims that the bank accounts have been changed and that the parishioner needs to redirect online payments to a new bank account.
In this instance, the parishioner suspected a scam and stated he would stop by the parish office to take care of the matter. The caller attempted to talk him out of this before the call ended. The parishioner then contacted the parish.
Neither the Diocese nor any location would contact a donor asking them to change the bank account for their electronic donations.
Please share this alert with your community.

Diocesan Finance Officer
| | Coffee and Juice Service - This Sunday | |

We are truly blessed to have the opportunity for Eucharistic Adoration at St. Margaret’s every Wednesday, a sacred time to step away from the busyness of life and spend quiet, prayerful time with Our Lord.
Each Wednesday, the church is open for Adoration from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and everyone is warmly invited to participate. Even one hour in His presence can bring peace, clarity, and grace to your week.
If you are able to commit to an hour, we kindly ask you to sign up using the link below. Our goal is to have at least four adorers each hour, ensuring that Jesus is never left alone.
Signing up for the same hour each week is especially helpful and allows us to provide consistent coverage throughout the day.
Your commitment, whether weekly or occasional, makes a meaningful difference for our parish community.
To learn more about Eucharistic Adoration and to reserve an hour, please use the link below.

| | Join us for our May Crowning on May 10th at the 10:00 AM Mass | | 2027 First Communion and Confirmation Meeting | | |
I invite you to join us for an information meeting discussing The Way on Wednesday, May 13th at 6:30 pm in the Holy Family Room. During this time, a diocesan representative will guide us in getting set up on the platform and offer practical direction on how to begin using this resource at home.
The Way is designed for families with children and teens, helping you engage the truths of our faith together as a family. While this evening is open to all families, I would like to especially encourage those with children preparing for First Communion or Confirmation in the coming year to attend.
This is not meant to be an added requirement, but a resource to strengthen what we are already doing together as a parish and within your homes. All are welcome to come and learn how this can support your family’s faith formation.

| | Holy Spirit Summer Lunch Program | |
Summer is approaching, and for many children in our community—over 25% in the southwest LS area, Raymore, and Peculiar—it means the end of reliable school meals and the start of summer hunger. The Summer Lunch Program provides vital nourishment, but our need for support has never been greater. Please answer the call: soaring food costs means every dollar makes a difference, and every volunteer hour ensures a child receives a meal.
We could also use donation supplies. When you are at the grocery store, please pick up some sandwich, snack, or gallon size Ziploc or re-closable bags, boxes of individual chips, boxes of individual cookies, and/or Kool-Aid Jammers. These can be dropped off in the parish office. Thank you for your support!

Please join our St. Margaret of Scotland Parish Family in prayer as we remember these parishioners and their loved ones in their time of loss.
Comfort Joe and Cathie Liccar, along with their sons Joey and Vince, as they grieve the death of Joe’s loving mother and a very special grandmother, Fran Liccar.
Ease the grief and sadness of Ron and Carroll Koch as they mourn the recent passing of their beloved sister-in-law, Caryl “Ann” Trigg.
May the Liccar Family’s memories of Fran, and Ron and Carroll’s memories of Caryl, be a lasting comfort.
Guide them through this time of sadness with the light of Your love and the strength of Your compassion.
May Fran and Caryl enjoy the fullness of Your presence in heaven. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
