May Crowning

Last Sunday was a beautiful day for our special May Crowning. We were blessed with many children participating in a wonderful procession. Thank you to everyone who helped organize this meaningful celebration and to all who took part!

Saint Sebastian’s Soccer

As another joyful season of family-friendly soccer comes to a close, the children and parents of Saint Sebastian’s Soccer would like to thank Father Haake and the parishioners of Saint Margaret’s for their continued generosity in making it possible for our little ones to play ball on Our Lord’s front lawn.

St. Sebastian, patron of athletes, pray for us!

(Families with pre-K through early-elementary children and interest in joining for the fall season of fun-and faith-first soccer, are encouraged to reach out to Claire McSpadden and Mary Downey.)

Adoration

We are truly blessed to have the opportunity for Eucharistic Adoration at St. Margaret’s every Wednesday, a sacred time to step away from the busyness of life and spend quiet, prayerful time with Our Lord.

Each Wednesday, the church is open for Adoration from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and everyone is warmly invited to participate. Even one hour in His presence can bring peace, clarity, and grace to your week.

If you are able to commit to an hour, we kindly ask you to sign up using the link below. Our goal is to have at least four adorers each hour, ensuring that Jesus is never left alone.

Signing up for the same hour each week is especially helpful and allows us to provide consistent coverage throughout the day.

Your commitment, whether weekly or occasional, makes a meaningful difference for our parish community.

To learn more about Eucharistic Adoration and to reserve an hour, please use the link below.

Holy Spirit Summer Lunch Program

Summer is approaching, and for many children in our community—over 25% in the southwest LS area, Raymore, and Peculiar—it means the end of reliable school meals and the start of summer hunger. The Summer Lunch Program provides vital nourishment, but our need for support has never been greater. Please answer the call: soaring food costs means every dollar makes a difference, and every volunteer hour ensures a child receives a meal.

We could also use donation supplies. When you are at the grocery store, please pick up some sandwich, snack, or gallon size Ziploc or re-closable bags, boxes of individual chips, boxes of individual cookies, and/or  Kool-Aid Jammers. These can be dropped off in the parish office. Thank you for your support!

Retrouvaille - Kansas City

Restore Your Marriage and Rebuild a Loving Relationship

Retrouvaille is different than other marriage programs. Some spouses resist the idea of attending the program, out of concern that they will be required to expose their personal lives and their marital problems. None of this is true. In fact, the program is entirely unique, and most couples find that this is the very thing that worked when all else failed.

With sorrow and gratitude, we all grieve the recent passing of Ron Buckley, a beloved parishioner whose faith was at the very center of his life. Ron loved St. Margaret of Scotland deeply, and that love was reflected in the quiet, steadfast way he lived his faith each day. His devotion to the Lord and to his parish family was a gift to all who knew him.

Ron was always willing and happy to give to others and to provide for the needs of our parish with generosity and kindness. He leaves behind a beautiful witness of Christian charity, one rooted in love, humility, and trust in God. As we mourn his passing into eternal life, we also give thanks for the blessing of his life and pray that he may now rest in the peace of Christ with those who have gone before him marked with the sign of faith.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

Be Aware: Scam Alert

Scammers are increasingly targeting churches and parishes, often using advanced AI technology to appear legitimate.

Please be aware that the Diocese and your parish will NEVER make direct phone calls requesting banking information or asking you to change your donation details.

If you receive a suspicious call, email, or message claiming to be from the Church, do not respond or provide any personal information.

We received this letter from Angela Laville, the Diocesan Finance Officer this week:

To All Locations:
We have been made aware of a telephone scam seeking to get donors to redirect their donations to a different bank account. The caller falsely represents themselves as a representative of the Diocese and the parish. The caller claims that the bank accounts have been changed and that the parishioner needs to redirect online payments to a new bank account.
In this instance, the parishioner suspected a scam and stated he would stop by the parish office to take care of the matter. The caller attempted to talk him out of this before the call ended. The parishioner then contacted the parish.
Neither the Diocese nor any location would contact a donor asking them to change the bank account for their electronic donations.
Please share this alert with your community.
Angela Laville
Diocesan Finance Officer
