Sing Along!

Arky Arky (Rise and Shine), traditional
Joy is Like the Rain, by Miriam Therese Winter, performed by Quintree Quartet with the Treble Trio, a family of musicians
The Children’s & Youth Program’s theme for September 25 will be Storm Sunday - we’ll talk about God’s power and mystery and the wonders of creation. Today we have two storm-related songs to listen to, sing, and think about. “Arky Arky (Rise and Shine)” is the story of how God told Noah to build an ark for himself and his wife, and bring on a pair of every kind of animal, so they would all be safe from a huge flood. “Joy Is Like the Rain” is a beautiful song full of raindrops, clouds, wind, and thunder that helps us remember how God moves through everything.

Lessons with Teacher Molly
September 18 was Flora and Fauna Sunday. Teacher Molly asked us to remember when we’d taken a walk in nature. We shared some of the creatures we’d seen: Raccoon, deer, banana slugs, coyotes, turkeys, squirrels. Native American Chief Seattle, who was born more than 200 years ago, said, “All things share the same breath....the beast, the tree, the person… The air shares its spirit with all the life that it supports.” God is present in all the earth and all its creatures - everything is connected and needs our care.
