The Salvation Army Orange County Celebrates
Groundbreaking of the Center of Hope
On Monday the Mayor, Council Members, and city leaders joined The Salvation Army Orange County in celebrating the groundbreaking of the Center of Hope, a comprehensive homeless care campus.

The Center of Hope, made possible in part by a generous donation from the Anaheim Ducks owners the Samueli family, will include shelter beds, permanent supportive housing, and wrap-around services to help people get on a pathway out of homelessness.

Representative Lou Correa, Mayor Sidhu, Council Members Jose Diaz, Avelino Valencia, and Gloria Ma'ae were amongst those on hand to thank the Salvation Army for their continued dedication to our city.
Black History Parade in Anaheim
The 42nd annual Black History Parade will be held this Saturday, February 5, 2022, in Downtown Anaheim.
Free Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Seminars
Anaheim Public Utilities is sponsoring a series of free seminars to help Anaheim businesses learn about new technologies to save energy and money. Classes are available in person or online, from 9–11 am. Continental breakfast will be provided for in-person attendees. 
 
Classes start on February 16.


U.S. Labor Costs Grew at Fastest Pace in Two Decades
as Inflation Picked Up
Employers spent 4% more on wages and benefits last year as workers received larger pay raises in a tight labor market, rebounding economy, and period of accelerating inflation, marking an increase not seen since 2001.
Employers Must Post OSHA Form 300A Beginning February 1
Beginning February 1, 2022, California employers must post their Form 300A, Annual Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses (which includes COVID-19-related injuries) in a visible and easily accessible area at every worksite. The Form 300A summary must remain posted through April 30.

Question - "What am I required to do when an employee tests positive for COVID?"
Answer - Notify employees and employers of subcontracted employees who were on the same worksite as the worker diagnosed with COVID-19 during the infectious period in writing within one business day of the notice of potential exposure.

Strong Opposition Stops Single-Payer Health Care Bill and
2 Other Job Killers
Three California Chamber of Commerce job killer bills, including one that would have raised taxes by more than $160 billion annually to fund a single-payer health care system, were stopped in the state Legislature yesterday and are likely dead for the year.

STC Foundation Promotes Lunar New Year Celebration with Disneyland
STC Foundation Artistic Director of Dance Impressions Productions and CEO of STC Foundation, Ms. Anne Ma, a former professional dancer at Disneyland, has returned to reprise her role as Artistic Director and Coordinator for the 2022 Disneyland Lunar New Year Celebration Procession. This year’s event includes a new float, dance, martial arts, dragon dances, and other wonderful performances brought by a cast of 60+ dancers including guest performers and STC Performing Arts.

For this Authentically Anaheim, we visited CENTER STREET ANAHEIM to check out the weekly Farmers Market. Every Thursday, Downtown Anaheim hosts this event which is full of goods, crafts, produce, and eats, all from local vendors. For an extra special treat, check their calendar for their themed Farmers Markets. January’s theme was Totally Tiki, and February’s will be themed to Valentine’s Day.

Back in May 2021 a cyber-attack known as ransomware shut down the fuel supplies of Colonial Pipeline for American Airlines and the northeast region for almost a week. The shutdown caused the rescheduling of hundreds of air flights and panic lines at the gasoline pumps in the northeast region of the United States. Darkside, the perpetrator, demanded $4.4 Million from Colonial Pipeline before they would provide a key to unlock the frozen control and billing systems.
