U.S. Chamber of Commerce's State of American Business 2024

It’s almost time for State of American Business, the U.S Chamber's biggest annual event that draws a virtual audience of more than 10,000 people from around the world – from small business owners to Fortune 500 CEOs, community leaders, policymakers and journalists, as well as state and local chamber executives and American Chamber of Commerce leaders.  

IRS Sets 2024 Tax Brackets, Standard Deductions, Mileage Rates, 401(k) Limits, IRA Limits, and HSA Limits

The IRS has increased mileage reimbursement rates to $0.67 per mile for 2024. The standard deduction for 2024 is $29,200 for married couples filing jointly, $21,900 for heads of households, and $14,600 for single taxpayers.  In 2024, employees may contribute up to $23,000 to their 401(k) accounts if under age 50, or $30,500 if age 50 or older. Individuals may contribute up to $7,000 to their Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) if under age 50, or $8,000 if age 50 or older; these limits are combined for both traditional IRAs and Roth IRAs (CalSavers accounts are Roth IRAs). Contribution limits for health flexible spending arrangements (FSAs) are $3,200 for 2024.
