Orange County Could Move To Yellow Tier As Soon As Next Week
|
|
Orange County is now within striking distance of its widest reopening based on the state’s four-tiered, color-coded blueprint. According to data released Tuesday, OC's rate of new cases — dropped to 1.8 per day per 100,000, meaning it could move into the yellow tier, as soon as next week.
This will allow increased capacity at 35% for theme parks, 200 people at meetings and receptions, 67% at outdoor concerts and sports, 50% at breweries, 50% at gyms and fitness centers, 50% at indoor private gatherings, and 100 people at outdoor private gatherings.

Can Employers Implement a Mandatory Vaccination Program?
|
|
According to both the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, employers can implement a mandatory vaccination program for their employees as part of the employer’s health and safety program to combat COVID-19 in the workplace.
Employers still must be aware of other issues associated with a mandatory vaccination program, such as employee objections based upon disability or religious concerns.

On May 10, Governor Newsom announced $100 billion in combined state budget surplus and federal funds for additional COVID-19 relief. It will provide $600 stimulus checks for middle- and low-income residents, and allocates billions for rental assistance, utility payments, and drought response.

Employers Struggle To Find Workers
|
Southern California theme parks, restaurants, and other retailers have had trouble filling positions even as COVID-19 restrictions loosen. Many employers have offered higher wages and incentives in an attempt to motivate new hires. Research suggests this may be due to people making more money through federal and state unemployment benefits than while they were working.
