California Tourism Industry Welcomes Return
of International Visitors

On Monday, Nov. 8, the state’s tourism and travel industry leaders began to rebuild a $28 billion annual segment of business lost to the pandemic. International travel restrictions to the U.S. were eased, allowing fully vaccinated people to fly into the country, and cross the borders if coming from Mexico or Canada. |

Setbacks for Biden's Vax-Or-Test Mandate
on Private Sector

Last week the federal government’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued new rules to implement the President’s call for workers at companies with 100+ employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-10 by Jan. 4, 2022 or undergo weekly testing and mask requirements. Over the weekend a federal court put the rule on hold pending review by the court. |

Coalition to Repeal the Death Tax Act |
|
|
|
Last week, the Anaheim Chamber joined the Coalition to Repeal the Death Tax Act, led by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. In 2020, voters approved Proposition 19, which made a number of changes to California property tax laws, but one little-advertised provision deleted protections for children who inherit their parents' home. For decades, children who inherited their parents' homes would continue to pay property taxes without a reassessment. However, Proposition 19 repealed this provision last year, forcing the homes to be reassessed as if the children were new homebuyers. The Coalition to Repeal the Death Tax Act seeks to restore this protection, so children who inherit the family home are able to maintain their parents' property tax levels. |

In yet another indication of the financial strength of the Transportation Corridor Agencies, aka The Toll Roads of Orange County, S&P Global Ratings has upgraded the Agency’s senior-lien and junior-lien bonds to A and A- respectively, with outlook stable.
The Agency's robust and ongoing recovery from impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated effects were acknowledged by S&P. The Toll Roads system overall has seen recovery and the negative financial impacts have diminished.
