Last week, the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce and Rancho Santiago Community College District hosted a hospitality/entertainment industry roundtable with entertainment businesses and mid-sized hotels. At the roundtable, attendees interacted with panelists in a robust discussion on industry hiring needs and skills required, workforce training and development needs, short-term/seasonal hiring opportunities, programs/training needed to meet industry needs, and potential areas of collaboration with job/career centers.
Participants also shared their best practices, discussed their staffing needs, and described their learning experiences. Panelists shared information on the Career Catalyst program from the Foundation for California Community Colleges, the ProStart program from the National Restaurant Association Foundation and the California Restaurant Association, the Guest Service Gold and Certified Guest Service Professional programs from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute.
