The Anaheim Chamber is calling all golfers for this year’s Annual Business Links Golf Tournament. 

The tournament, set for Monday, September 19th will take place Anaheim Hills Golf Course and is a member-favorite event and a great way to meet new clients and colleagues and leaders.

In addition to enjoying some competition on the course, attendees will enjoy networking, making new business connections and lots of food featuring Anaheim eateries and breweries.

Disneyland Teases New Lands, Rides and
Nighttime Spectaculars at D23 Expo
Disney Parks and Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro unveiled a host of new attractions and opening timelines for Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney and the three Disney resort hotels during a D23 Expo panel on Sunday, Sept. 11.
UPS to Hire 12,000 Southern California Workers
for the Holiday Season
UPS is looking to hire 12,000 Southern California workers as the delivery giant gears up for the 2022 holiday season.

The local hires are part of the company’s plan to bring on more than 100,000 seasonal drivers, package handlers, and driver helpers nationwide to support the expected increase in package volume.

U.S. Chamber Urges Congress to Act to Avert National Crisis from Railroad Union Strike
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to the Congressional leadership of both parties urging emergency action in the event that railroad unions go on strike due to the railroads and unions not reaching an agreement by the end of the week. The U.S. economy will lose over $2 billion per day if American rail service is shut down. 

That would disrupt 12.2 million daily Amtrak riders, 6300 railcars of food and farm products (enough wheat for 1.6 billion loaves of bread), 205 rail cars full of meat and poultry every single day, 75% of all new automobiles, and a such a significant reduction of chlorine for water plant treatment that it could force communities to ration clean water. 

The letter urges that if the remaining unions do not join the deal that the other unions have agreed to or if they do not agree to extend the cooling off period, then Congress will need to intervene the way it has in the past to protect the American people. Intervention would simply implement the recommendations of the Biden Administration’s Presidential Emergency Board, which the majority of railroad unions have agreed to. The recommendations include a 24% wage increase over time, including an immediate 14.1% increase and an average $11,000 lump sum payment. A few unions have not yet agreed, and the unions have a collective position that if they are not unanimous in a labor agreement, than they will all strike.
