Anaheim Chamber Business Links Golf Tournament
On Monday, the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce hosted its Business Links Networking Golf Tournament at the Anaheim Hills Golf Course. We were honored to have a full house come out to support the Chamber and this year’s honorees, Jerry Jordan, National Director of Pre-Construction for Rosendin Electric, and Robert Smith, President of Anaheim Hills Auto Body.
Thank you to our sponsors and guests for a great day on course, including top sponsors Control Air, DMG, Kaiser Permanente, W.E. O’Neil, and Rosendin Electric. The tournament showcased local restaurants and breweries on course providing samples of their cuisine or featured drinks, including TAPS Anaheim, Brewery X, Islands, Craft Smoke & Fire, Navarro’s Tacos, Keno’s, Brewheim, The Fifth, Raising Cane’s, and Skrewball Whiskey.
We had a couple of exciting moments when golfers came close to the Hole-In-One holes sponsored by Mercedes Benz of Anaheim Hills and JSTAR. At the end of the day, congratulations went to team Sigler who beat out the rest of the field with their first-place win! The Anaheim Chamber appreciates everyone who attended the After-Golf Mixer and picked up a few silent auction items donated by our members. Congratulations to all and we look forward to next year’s tournament!

Biden Mandates Vaccines for Employees
On Sept. 9, President Biden announced that employers with more than 100 workers must require the COVID-19 vaccine or implement weekly testing for unvaccinated workers. The rule will also require a paid time off element for workers to get vaccinated or recover from vaccine-related side effects. As of now, it is unclear when OSHA will complete an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) and require businesses to implement the mandate.

California Lawmakers Approve Extending

California’s Legislature on Thursday passed a Senate Bill 389 to extend the state’s cocktail-to-go approval until Dec. 31, 2026. The bill now goes to Gov. Gavin Newsom for his signature. New California Law Helps With Workplace Notices
As HR practitioners are well aware, federal and California laws require employers to post a large number of notices in the workplace. These notices are generally intended to make employees aware of their rights under various laws and provide information about how employees can report complaints to the relevant agencies. For the most part, these notices are required to be physically posted in conspicuous places in the workplace, such as break rooms or other common areas, where employees can easily read them, but a new California law may help employers with employees requesting flexibility on work location.
The pandemic made it clear that there needed to be another, more effective way to provide required information to remote employees. Senate Bill 657 (SB 657) moves things in the right direction. Signed by Governor Newsom on July 16, 2021, SB 657 takes effect on January 1, 2022. It adds a short section to the Labor Code simply stating that in any instance in which an employer is required to physically post information, an employer “may also distribute that information to employees by email with the document or documents attached.”

Flood Insurance Information for Lenders,
Insurance Agents, Business Owners, and Property Owners
With summer in full swing, you may not be thinking of the coming raining season and the potential for higher than normal rainfall that can cause flooding and property damage. However, anytime is a good time to learn if the commercial, industrial, or residential property in Anaheim that you own or rent is located in a flood zone. The City of Anaheim’s Planning and Building Department has information that can help you determine whether or not your property is in a flood zone, also known as a FEMA Special Flood Hazard Area.
To view a citywide flood zone map, obtain flood-related information, determine if your property has an Elevation or Floodproofing Certificate, or if you have other flood-related questions, please contact the Planning and Building Department, at (714) 765-5139 or or visit www.anaheim.net/planning.

Legislative Session Ends with Key Victories
Last Friday, the Legislature made final decisions on key bills including telecommunications priorities AB 537 and SB 556 and housing bills SB 9 and SB 10 await the Governor’s signature. Several bills did not make it past the Legislature, such as AB 1395, an ambitious emissions reduction bill with undefined policies, and AB 1041, which would have broadly extended family leave and exposed employers to litigation.
