Congresswoman Young Kim at Anaheim Chamber

Congresswoman Young Kim was the featured speaker at the September meeting of the Anaheim Chamber Government Affairs Committee. She is a member of the House Small Business Committee and the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Workforce Development. She is also a member of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
In her remarks, Congresswoman Kim discussed her legislation that extended the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) in 2021, enabling 2.3 million small businesses to apply for an unspent $54 billion of PPP money. She has also ensured audits of PPP fraud. She has worked on bipartisan Small Business Administration (SBA) cybersecurity legislation that is headed to President Biden to be signed into law. She discussed the importance of the CHIPS Act to counter Chinese aggression and secure America’s independence from semiconductors, which are a vital part of cars, computers, phones, and many other domestic products. Since entering Congress in 2021, her office has helped 3,500 constituents obtain $15 million that they were owed from the IRS, Veterans Administration, and Social Security. She has been rated the most bipartisan freshman member of Congress in both 2021 and 2022, as well as the most effective freshman member of Congress.
In response to questions from the committee, Congresswoman Kim spoke about inflation, Iran, border security, information sharing about criminals across federal/state/local agencies, her successful effort to defeat HR 1 (the federal version of California’s AB 5, the state law forcing many independent contractors to be W2 employees), international trade and travel, and her work in the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, including efforts to combat organized gangs targeting retail stores. She also spoke about obtaining $21 million for projects in her district in 2021 and is seeking $35 million in 2022. She has worked with other members of the Orange County delegation, teaming up with Congressman Lou Correa to obtain $7 million for BeWellOC (the mental health care services partnership between government, private sector, academic, faith-based, and non-profit organizations). Congressman Mike Levin to obtain $3.5 million for the Orange County Intelligence Assessment Center, a partnership of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

The Anaheim City Council voted last night to unanimously approve ocV!BE, a $4 billion development project sponsored by the Samueli Family to surround Honda Center in Anaheim with new entertainment, dining, hospitality, and lifestyle amenities.
"We thank the Anaheim City Council and City staff for their strong support of our vision for ocV!BE and our continued partnership with the City of Anaheim,” said Henry and Susan Samueli. “We look forward to starting construction soon on this important community asset that will showcase Anaheim and Orange County, while also providing world-class entertainment and offerings for local residents, visitors, and our Anaheim Ducks fans."
Henry and Susan Samueli are the longtime owners of the Anaheim Ducks and venue managers of Honda Center.

October 7th is Manufacturing Day at Reborn Cabinets |

On Friday, Oct. 7, Reborn Cabinets will be opening its doors to local students to visit its Anaheim showroom and refacing manufacturing facility.
Manufacturing Day is an annual nationwide event allowing manufacturers and other organizations to showcase their operational facilities to all grade levels starting with junior high, high school, and college students, to tour and learn about the exciting and innovative technologies utilized in the manufacturing industry. The tremendous success of this initiative has led to the development of Manufacturing Month, which runs all of October. Exposing future generations to manufacturing facilities generates awareness and interest in the plethora of career opportunities available to them in manufacturing.
