Anaheim Family YMCA Elects Michael Johnson Chair of the Board |

The Anaheim Family YMCA Board of Directors has elected Michael Johnson to become the next Chair of the YMCA Board. Michael will serve a two-year term leading the Board of Directors from 2023-2025. He currently serves as the Market Manager, Government Relations for Republic Services leading efforts in community engagement and neighborhood investment. Republic Services is a national leader and the largest environmental services company in Orange County. |

CHOC Walk in the Park Returns to Disneyland Resort |

Thousands of participants gathered at Disneyland Resort for the first time since 2019 to join CHOC Walk in the Park — an inspiring trek across Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks in support of Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Along the 5K route, participants were greeted by beloved Disney characters, Disney VoluntEARS and cast members eager to make the morning magical. The rainy weather didn't dampen the spirits of those involved in the event, which raised over $2 million dollars to support the hospital’s vital programs and research. |

World Korean Business Convention Comes to Anaheim in October 11-14 |

The 2023 World Korean Business Convention will be held in Anaheim October 11-14. Held in South Korea since 2002, this marks the first time that the convention will be held outside of Korea. Speakers and presentations will cover VC investment forums, start-up pitch, 1:1 meetings and more focusing on infrastructure, trade transportation e-commerce, wellness and e-sports. The legislature has only three weeks remaining, and it seems unlikely that any action will be taken to address the issue of retail theft, despite the recent surge in such incidents. Statewide crime statistics reflect similar problems. Property crime has increased by nearly 10% over the past two years, while overall crime has risen by more than 10% during the same period. It is even more alarming that since Proposition 47 was passed, violent crime rates have surged by over 25% However, there may be some hope on the horizon as rumors suggest an initiative might be introduced with intentions to reform Proposition 47. The proposal being considered lowers the current $950 threshold for a felony conviction. This change would send a clear message that California takes theft seriously and intends to combat it more effectively. It is crucial for small business owners and residents like yourself to contribute your experiences and insights regarding retail or residential theft. |
