Assistant Building Official


Assists the Building Official in making inspections on building construction, repairs, alterations and additions. Inspects plumbing, heating, electrical and other mechanical systems installations for compliance to the Connecticut State Building Code. Responsible for technical work involving inspection of building construction within a municipal building inspection department. Issues permits and certificates of occupancy in the absences of the Building Official.  


Assistant Assessor


Under the direction of the Assessor, the incumbent has the responsibility to assess the valuation of personal property and/or inventory of commercial and industrial establishments; to inspect real estate and make appraisals of new building and building additions and improvements according to recognized appraisal standards. Assists in maintenance of all records and documents of real estate and personal property value and ownership. Confers with property owners and provides information about laws pertaining to motor vehicle taxation, exemption for elderly citizens, and similar tax liability matters; compiles lists such as Grand List, assessments, properties, elderly homeowners and other assessment information. Searches land records for changes in ownership and in response to requests for information from attorneys, real estate agents and the public. Records changes in assessment administrative documents and files to reflect new construction or ownership of property.

The Hartford Social Security office will relocate to its new location at 135 High St, 1 st Floor, Hartford, CT 06103 on Monday, February 13, 2023. Business operations at 960 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Hartford, CT 06103 will end at close of business Friday, February 10, 2023.

"NEW" Mobile Foodshare Schedule The Bloomfield Senior Center sponsors a site for this program every other Tuesday, 12:45 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.). This program provides fresh fruits and vegetables to participants. This is an open site and therefore is available to residents of Bloomfield as well as non-residents.
