Bloomfield adds extra $15K to crisis fund to help families with heating costs

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) - With inflation and high oil prices, Bloomfield is trying to help people with their bills. This year, the demand has been overwhelming. The town has a crisis fund, which is used to help families struggling with paying their rent, mortgage, utility bills, prescriptions, and other costs.

Bloomfield Partners With YWCA For 50/50 Campaign

YWCA Hartford Region is partnering with the Town of Bloomfield to spearhead the 50/50campaign! The 50/50 Campaign seeks to increase civic participation amongst marginalized communities and promote equitable racial and gender representation on municipal boards and commissions.

Bloomfield Humanities Committee sponsors an event for Holocaust Remembrance Day

In recognition of Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Bloomfield Humanities Committee hosted an event with Bloomfield resident and survivor Ruth Weiner on January 26. Ms. Weiner shared her story and answered questions about her experience.

Assistant Building Official

Assists the Building Official in making inspections on building construction, repairs, alterations and additions. Inspects plumbing, heating, electrical and other mechanical systems installations for compliance to the Connecticut State Building Code. Responsible for technical work involving inspection of building construction within a municipal building inspection department. Issues permits and certificates of occupancy in the absences of the Building Official.

Assistant Assessor

Under the direction of the Assessor, the incumbent has the responsibility to assess the valuation of personal property and/or inventory of commercial and industrial establishments; to inspect real estate and make appraisals of new building and building additions and improvements according to recognized appraisal standards. Assists in maintenance of all records and documents of real estate and personal property value and ownership. Confers with property owners and provides information about laws pertaining to motor vehicle taxation, exemption for elderly citizens, and similar tax liability matters; compiles lists such as Grand List, assessments, properties, elderly homeowners and other assessment information. Searches land records for changes in ownership and in response to requests for information from attorneys, real estate agents and the public. Records changes in assessment administrative documents and files to reflect new construction or ownership of property.

Hartford Social Security Office Moving to New Location

The Hartford Social Security office will relocate to its new location at 135 High St, 1 st Floor, Hartford, CT 06103 on Monday, February 13, 2023. Business operations at 960 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Hartford, CT 06103 will end at close of business Friday, February 10, 2023.

Bloomfield Public Schools Family Workshop Series

Workshops will take place the second Thursday of every month.

"NEW" Mobile Foodshare Schedule The Bloomfield Senior Center sponsors a site for this program every other Tuesday, 12:45 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.). This program provides fresh fruits and vegetables to participants. This is an open site and therefore is available to residents of Bloomfield as well as non-residents.
