As we enter the final week of July, a reminder that this is the final week to pay taxes before it is considered delinquent on August 1.

Operation Fuel

·      Beginning Tuesday, August 1, 2023, Operation Fuel will administer an energy assistance program for clients who need aid with meeting their home energy needs (electricity, gas, and deliverable fuels). This program will be for households living up to 75% of state median income. The maximum grant amount will be up to $500 per household, one time per year.

DON'T BE DELINQUENT: Tax Bills Due

On Monday, June 12th, the Tax Collector’s Office mailed tax bills consisting of personal property, motor vehicles and, 1st installment real estate. Payment was due on July 1, 2023 and is considered delinquent after August 1, 2023.

 

Taxes may be paid on-line at www.mytaxbill.net/bloomfield or at the Tax Collector’s Office in Town Hall using cash, check or money orders. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. 



If payment is not made by August 1, 2023, the tax becomes delinquent and subject to interest at the rate of 1.5% per month and a minimum interest charge of $2.00.

Farmers Market Nutrition Program for Senior & Disabled Adults


Bloomfield Social & Youth Services will be distributing Farmers Market Electronic Benefit Cards to Seniors age 60 or older and Disabled Adults under the age of 60.


Distribution will start Wednesday, July 26, 2023 and will continue while supplies last.

Deputy Tax Collector


The purposes of this position involve the routine receiving and recording of tax payments, balancing cash receipts and performing other technical and clerical work for both the Town and the two Bloomfield Fire Districts, consistent with policies and procedures, applicable laws and statutory responsibilities of tax collection. The work involves the billing and collection of Personal Property, Motor Vehicle and Real Property taxes; recording such revenues and maintaining records pertinent to the collection function; calculating interest or penalties, recording, reconciling receipts; preparing deposits; and answering customer inquiries pertaining to the collection of taxes.


Assistant Building Official


Assists the Building Official in making inspections on building construction, repairs, alterations and additions. Inspects plumbing, heating, electrical and other mechanical systems installations for compliance to the Connecticut State Building Code. Responsible for technical work involving inspection of building construction within a municipal building inspection department. Issues permits and certificates of occupancy in the absences of the Building Official.
