SPRING HAS SPRUNG!!

The weather is beginning to turn and it is a great time to get out and enjoy all of Bloomfield's local businesses! There are plenty of events going on around town this week, including the rescheduled Fishing Derby at Filley Park on Saturday Morning.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and we want to thank all of the educators in Bloomfield for their service.

This upcoming Sunday is also Mother's Day and we wish all of the mothers in town a very Happy Mother's Day!

Owner of Rescued Bloomfield Dog Grateful for Efforts

A sigh of relief for a Bloomfield dog owner. His golden retriever was rescued after being stuck in a pipe while out for a walk Wednesday. The owner now thanking firefighters and others for their help. "We're not going near anymore culverts," said owner David Lauretti.

Bloomfield students shadow Connecticut Children's professionals as part of career mentorship program

BLOOMFIELD - Some want to be nurses. Some want to be doctors. Others want to be social workers. Two are very set on anesthesiology. A group of students from Bloomfield High School interested in pursuing careers in health care after graduation are participating in a partnership with Connecticut Children's in hopes of getting a taste of the career they want.

Great Kids: The Tribe prepares young men in Bloomfield for the future

BLOOMFIELD, CT (WFSB) - The town of Bloomfield is investing time and energy in young men, particularly young men of color. It has formed a class called the Tribe, where some great kids are learning how to become great men. There is a strong, often used affirmation that theorizes: if you can see it, then you can achieve it.

The Elderly & Totally Disabled Homeowners Tax Relief program is a state tax relief program that is administered by our office.

Taxpayers who meet the age requirements (have turned 65 by the end of 2022) or who are totally disabled and meet the income guidelines and who reside in their homes in Bloomfield can qualify for a tax credit, and this is a dollar amount that comes directly off their real estate tax bill.

Qualifying income is social security plus any additional income (pensions, annuities, etc). The deadline to apply for this program is May 15, 2023.

Sidewalk Replacements in Various Town Locations - Beginning, Monday, April 24, 2023

Hello Bloomfield Residents: The Town of Bloomfield will be removing and replacing existing sidewalks along town roads that are in very poor condition. The work will be performed by an outside contractor and not Town forces. Properties on which work will be performed will receive an individual notice in their mailbox prior to the start of any work.

The Police Department is an active participant in the State of Connecticut Prescription Drug Take Back Program. A prescription medication drop-box is located in the lobby of the Bloomfield Police Department, which is open twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. Residents are encouraged to utilize the medication drop-box as an environmentally-safe way of disposing of their expired or unused medications.

Accepted items for the drop-box are prescriptions (i.e. prescription medications/ointments, and patches), over-the-counter medications, vitamins, samples, and medications for pets. Items that are NOT accepted are needles, sharps, thermometers, hydrogen peroxide, inhalers, aerosol cans, lotions, liquids, or medications from businesses or clinics.
