Coach Kevin Moses Honorary Street Sign Unveiling - July 8

Longtime Bloomfield High School coach Kevin Moses was honored for his service to the Town on July 8 as Coach Kevin Moses Way was unveiled in his memory, a decision that was unanimously approved by the Town Council in June. The honorary street name will go above the intersection of Huckleberry Lane and Park Avenue, leading into Bloomfield High School. The ceremony was part of the Class of 1983 reunion weekend.

DON'T BE DELINQUENT: Tax Bills Due

On Monday, June 12^th, the Tax Collector’s Office mailed tax bills consisting of personal property, motor vehicles and, 1^st installment real estate. Payment was due on July 1, 2023 and is considered delinquent after August 1, 2023.

Taxes may be paid on-line at www.mytaxbill.net/bloomfield or at the Tax Collector’s Office in Town Hall using cash, check or money orders. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

If payment is not made by August 1, 2023, the tax becomes delinquent and subject to interest at the rate of 1.5% per month and a minimum interest charge of $2.00.

The Police Department is an active participant in the State of Connecticut Prescription Drug Take Back Program. A prescription medication drop-box is located in the lobby of the Bloomfield Police Department, which is open twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. Residents are encouraged to utilize the medication drop-box as an environmentally-safe way of disposing of their expired or unused medications.

Accepted items for the drop-box are prescriptions (i.e. prescription medications/ointments, and patches), over-the-counter medications, vitamins, samples, and medications for pets. Items that are NOT accepted are needles, sharps, thermometers, hydrogen peroxide, inhalers, aerosol cans, lotions, liquids, or medications from businesses or clinics.

Deputy Tax Collector

The purposes of this position involve the routine receiving and recording of tax payments, balancing cash receipts and performing other technical and clerical work for both the Town and the two Bloomfield Fire Districts, consistent with policies and procedures, applicable laws and statutory responsibilities of tax collection. The work involves the billing and collection of Personal Property, Motor Vehicle and Real Property taxes; recording such revenues and maintaining records pertinent to the collection function; calculating interest or penalties, recording, reconciling receipts; preparing deposits; and answering customer inquiries pertaining to the collection of taxes.

Assistant Building Official

Assists the Building Official in making inspections on building construction, repairs, alterations and additions. Inspects plumbing, heating, electrical and other mechanical systems installations for compliance to the Connecticut State Building Code. Responsible for technical work involving inspection of building construction within a municipal building inspection department. Issues permits and certificates of occupancy in the absences of the Building Official.
