APHSA and Mathematica are rolling out a survey that asks state and local agencies about their relationship to environmental justice to gauge current work and interest in this area. If you work for a human services agency, no matter your level of engagement or interest, we encourage you to fill it out and share it with others. The survey will remain open until March 31st.

Updated ARP Child Care Stabilization Funding State and Territory Fact Sheets


The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Office of Child Care released updated state fact sheets and national data on the ARP (American Rescue Plan) Child Care Stabilization Program. The fact sheet details that, as of December 31, 2022, the ARP Child Care Stabilization Program had served more than 220,000 child care providers, impacting as many as 9.6 million children.

FNS Publishes Updated SNAP Heating and Cooling Utility Allowances for FY2022


While most Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligibility parameters are set at the federal level, states may establish their own standard utility allowances (SUAs), which are part of the excess shelter expense deduction. The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has published new estimated SUAs for Financial Year 2022.

FNS Posts Approved State Plans for Replacing Stolen SNAP Benefits


States have been working to implement a law passed by Congress in late 2022 to help SNAP participants who have had their benefits stolen through card skimming. All 50 states, as well as D.C., Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands, have submitted plans for replacing stolen benefits, though only Maryland and Vermont have been approved thus far. FNS will list states as their plans are approved.
