Request for Information: Meeting the Child Care Needs in Tribal Nations

On July 27, 2023, the ACF announced the publication of a formal request for information (RFI) on the child care requirements, regulations, and processes for Tribal Nations that administer the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) program. You can view the RFI on the Federal Register webpage.

$58 million to Reduce Lead in Schools and Childcare Facilities Through Investing in America Agenda

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Assistant Administrator for Water Radhika Fox and EPA New England Regional Administrator David W. Cash, along with U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren and U.S. Representative Katherine Clark, announced $58 million in grant funding to protect children from lead in drinking water at schools and childcare facilities across the country. This grant funding is provided to states, territories, and Tribes.

OPRE Requests Comments on Chafee Strengthening Outcomes for Transition to Adulthood Project Data Collection

The ACF, the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) is requesting Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval for clearance to collect data on programs serving youth transitioning out of foster care as part of the Chafee Strengthening Outcomes for Transition to Adulthood Project. The purpose of these data collections will be to inform ACF programming. Comments are due August 25.

Enhancing Child Care Assistance Programs through Human Centered Design

The APHSA, in partnership with the Urban Institute, invite you to apply to participate in our workshop series on creating family- and provider-centered policies to increase access to child care subsidies. This opportunity is for state Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Lead Agency Teams who are eager to learn and engage with their peers, and who are interested in modifying existing policies and practices to better meet the needs of families and providers.

FNS Shares Updated Standard Utility Allowances

The USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) shared the updated standard utility allowances for state Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) agencies.

FNS Posts Information Collection on SNAP Risk Assessment Study

FNS posted an information collection on a proposed study to understand how states are using risk assessment tools to reduce their payment error rates. Comments are due September 18, 2023.

Train-the-Trainer Webinar on Medicaid and CHIP Renewals

On August 1, the White House, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will host an interagency train-the-trainer webinar on Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) renewals. This training will walk through a set of slides that federal employees and partners can download and use to educate people in their networks about Medicaid and CHIP renewals.

It Takes A Village: Family Finding and Community Engagement Strategies

The percentage of youth in foster care placed with kin has increased from 27% to 35% over the past decade. This webinar aims to explore effective strategies for family finding and engagement nationwide, with a focus on leveraging technology to systematically build and engage a child's support system.
