New Ratings from the Prevention Services Clearinghouse
 
The Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse has announced ratings on five new programs. Child First, Prolonged Exposure Therapy for Adolescents with PTSD, and Triple P – Positive Parenting Program were found to be “supported,” while Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD and Family Spirit were rated “promising.” No new programs rated were found to meet the highest level of “well supported.” Additionally, there are three dozen programs currently planned for review by the Clearinghouse.

Request for Public Comments: Exploration of a Multi-Program, Integrated Case Management System

The U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) Employment and Training Administration (ETA) is seeking public comment on the design and deployment of affordable, flexible technology systems to improve workforce development and reemployment service delivery at the local level. In collaboration with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) partner agencies, ETA will use this information to inform WIOA implementation and technical assistance provided to States to help align technology and data systems across one-stop partner programs, and with the customer experience in mind. Comments are due by July 23.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Announces Key Staff Appointments

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced appointments for senior staff positions. Kim Peyser was named Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration. Peyser previously served as the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Department of Commerce. Tien Nguyen was named Deputy Director of Scheduling and Advance in the Office of the Secretary. Most recently, Nguyen served as an Advance Associate in the Executive Office of the President. Katie Zenk was named Chief of Staff for Marketing and Regulatory Programs. Prior to her appointment, Zenk was the Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Livestock and Foreign Agriculture.

HHS Requests Expedited Review of Information Collection Request for LIHWAP

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has requested an expedited review of an information collection request for the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP). HHS will use information from the LIHWAP plan to identify recipients, methods and categories for grantee expenditures, as well as to assess the effectiveness of grantee planning and compliance to terms and conditions for the LIHWAP.

FNS Posts Questions and Answers Regarding Updated Emergency Allotments Guidance for SNAP

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) recently posted a new set of questions and answers regarding updated emergency allotments guidance for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The updated guidance was issued on April 1, 2021.

FNS Posts Memo on Emergency Broadband Benefit Program and Related Outreach

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) recently posted a memo on the Federal Communication Commission’s Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB). The EBB is a new, temporary federal program to help eligible families pay for internet service during the pandemic. More information about the EBB can be found on the Department of Education’s EBB website.

New Opportunity! OFA Learning Community

The Administration for Children and Families, Office of Family Assistance (OFA) has a new Learning Community. The Learning Community theme is “Reimagining TANF Programs to Support Family Economic Independence and Mobility in a Post-Pandemic World.” Only state, local and tribal TANF agencies are eligible and encouraged to self-nominate. Nominations are due by June 23, 2021 at 6:00 PM EDT. A package has been sent to Regional Program Managers for distribution to local and county agencies. National Association of Counties Releases Summary of State and Local Aid Funding

The National Association of Counties (NACo) has released a quick guide for public officials that summarizes key rules, allowable uses, and timelines for state and local aid funding authorized through the American Rescue Plan Act.
