The USDA Food and Nutrition Service is recruiting for two senior leadership positions in its administration, a Deputy Administrator for Child Nutrition Programs and a Deputy Administrator for Policy Support. Both openings are Senior Executive Service (SES) positions that will be available through March 10.

ACF Proposes Information Collection for State Child Welfare Data Linkages Study

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) has a proposed a new information collection activity to gather systematic information on the extent to which states connect their child maltreatment data to other data sets. The study will be conducted via survey to state child welfare agencies.

USDA Announces Membership of Newly Formed Equity Commission

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the members of the newly established Equity Commission and its Subcommittee on Agriculture, authorized and funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The Commission will hold its first public meeting on February 28. USDA additionally announced plans to launch subcommittees focused on rural communities and economic development. 

Cuban and Haitian Entrants Eligibility for ORR-Funded Benefits and Services  

The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) in the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) issued State Letter #10-03: “Cuban and Haitian Entrants: Eligibility for ORR-Funded Benefits and Services.” Cuban and Haitian entrants are eligible for ORR-funded benefits and services, such as refugee cash, medical assistance and social services. In addition, Cuban and Haitian entrants are eligible for Federal public benefits, such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), to the same extent as refugees.  

Grant Opportunity for States to Participate in the ARPA UI Navigator Program

Applications are open until March 31 for the $15 million Department of Labor Investment in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Unemployment Insurance (UI) Navigator Program. States may apply for up to $3 million to help workers learn about, apply for, and receive Unemployment Insurance benefits and services.

USDA Invests $1.4 Billion in Eight Programs to Strengthen Rural Economies

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $1.4 billion to help a diverse rural America. Investments are being made through a suite of business and cooperative services and will support job training, business expansion and technical assistance.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) will host a pre-Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) technical assistance webinar series in connection with the five new broadband grant programs authorized and funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA): The Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program; the Enabling Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Program; and the Digital Equity Act Programs, which include the State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program, State Digital Equity Capacity Grant Program, and Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program.
