HOMEGROWN DESIGNER DEBUTS LINE
June 16, 2022, The New Haven Independent, by Olivia Charis- A budding New Haven fashion designer named Del Vaani brought his latest avant-garde line to a crowd gathered in Westville Wednesday night. Del Vanni — aka Jozif Del Vaani, who’s 23 — gave 70 friends and family a taste of his latest designs at a fashion show held at the Kehler Liddell Gallery. The evening began with music as fans sat waiting for the show to begin. After a few minutes, the music tempo changed, and Del Vaani’s models began strutting down the runway. Del Vaani designs and produces hoodies, tees, sweaters, hats, bags, and custom sneakers. His latest drop also included two dress designs..." Click HERE to comment and read full article.

June 15, 2022, The New Haven Independent, by Thomas Breen- "A Branford-based developer working with local real estate investors plans to knock down two Westville commercial buildings — including a long-vacant and blighted structure at the corner of Whalley Avenue and Fitch Street — and construct in their stead 245 new riverfront apartments. Those are the latest plans for the long-blighted property at 781 Whalley Ave. and 50 Fitch St. On Tuesday night, Hugh Scott of the real estate investment firm Cove Funds joined a team of architects and engineers to make that development pitch at a Zoomed virtual community meeting..." ARTS CENTER GAINS FOOTHOLD IN WESTVILLE
June 14, 2022, The New Haven Independent, by Kimberly Wipfler- "Friends Latisha Douglas and Samantha Williams brought their children to violin lessons. They waved goodbye to their budding musicians — then, instead of heading home or out for errands, they went down the hallway, into another classroom, for a contemporary dance class. That weekly Saturday scene takes place a new arts center in Westville, which promises to bring the arts “into diverse communities and art deserts” for students of all “ages, abilities, cultures, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds” to pursue their artistic dreams. Westville Performing Arts Center has found a home on the second floor of 351 McKinley Ave. in the former St. Aedan’s Parish school building. It is the latest expansion of Arts in CT, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has offered after-school programs, life performances, and artists in residency programs since its founding in 2016..." WESTVILLE COMMUNITY NURSERY SCHOOL:
OPENINGS IN SEPTEMBER FOR SCHOOL YEAR
Calling all 3 year olds (or almost 3 year olds) who like to play!!!
Westville Community Nursery School (WCNS) has several openings for the upcoming school year (beginning in September). We have some Tuesday/Thursday spaces available as well as two part-day School Readiness grant spaces open for New Haven residents who meet state eligibility. A two day space is beneficial for young ones to acclimate to a new environment especially after their limitation in public settings since the pandemic. WCNS is a one room classroom with children of mixed ages (3-5). We at WCNS believe that children "learn to play and play to learn" at our preschool!
For more information, an application and/or a tour, please contact WCNS' director, Patty at 203-387-6660 or email: patty@wcnsplay2learn.org.
