VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: THE WESTVILLE MASK PROJECT NEEDS YOUR HELP BUILDING PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Friend and neighbor Linda Schultz is coordinating a protective mask project and is asking for our help!

"Do you sew? Do you have a sewing machine and an iron?

Westville women and men have coordinated a home sewing program to produce Yale New Haven hospital masks. These pocket masks lengthen the use of surgical masks, and the design is approved by our New Haven hospital network. Patterns and materials are available. We are asking you to provide the cutting and/or sewing skill. As a community, we will be completing and distributing at least a hundred masks each week for our frontline medical personnel. Let’s do it!"

Linda already has a great team of volunteers who have begun work, but they could use more help. Please use the Google form: https://forms.gle/XRBy8WDEEpf6p8Cv8
if you are interested in helping.

Taught by Thema Haida, this class is a gentle and meditative flow designed to honor the space between effort and surrender and establishing a deeper relationship with the mind, body and spirit.

Frank Bruckmann, I-95 Reststop Milford, 54"x72", $8,500
Kehler Liddell Gallery (KLG) will be implementing a new dimension to its online presence this week, designed to keep the art savvy public engaged, and keep its artist community thriving, during this challenging time. Beginning with this month’s exhibition, “Journeying,” two solo shows by Frank Bruckmann and Kim Weston.

I-Visit Tab on Website:  KLG has launched a new section of its website, “I-Visit,” that will allow viewers a chance to make a virtual visit to the gallery. This section will include:
  • I-Tour: Take a personalized tour of the exhibitions narrated by the artists, and/or enjoy a conversation between the artists and guest curators. This month, Sarah Fritchey, Curator at Artspace New Haven, will be in conversation with artists Kim Weston and Frank Bruckmann. Air Date TBD.
  • I-Buy: Like what you see? Peruse our new online shop, complete with an entire image catalogue from the shows, and for the first time ever, an actionable “BUY NOW” button. We will pack and deliver or ship the works right to your door.

SUSAN TABACHNICK | ARTIFACTS @DASILVA GALLERY
“My mom taught me to embroider when I was a small girl. Then came sewing, crocheting, knitting. Later on I became a weaver. Working with textiles aligned with my tendencies towards perfection; something that the shadow boxes take full advantage of.

Making these small pieces of work has been joyous. Small, disparate pieces with past lives finding a new one. I like the perceived limitations of the rectangle, and that the items visibly balance without worrying about how they do so physically. Framing the works allows the viewer to focus on the small items, looking, often for the first time, at their design, function, and material.”
