Dr. Anandi V. Law was an invited panelist at an FIP (International Pharmaceutical Federation) presentation on July 24, 2021 (at 2 a.m.!) to pharmacists all over the globe. The topic was: “Readying the global population for self-care: health Literacy in the 2020s.” The recording can be found here https://events.fip.org/previous-fip-digital-events/
Dr. Law based her presentation on functional health literacy and the importance of prescription labels in effective medication-related communication for patients; a topic on which she and her team (of postdoctoral fellows and APPE students) have spent almost a decade researching, re-designing and testing Rx labels for content, convenience, cosmetics, and more importantly, patient comprehension and action (filling a pillbox). She has published 6 papers on the topic and been an invited participant at a key stakeholder summit (in 2011) for advising on Rx label standards in CA.
Here is the re-designed label that Dr. Law has used to testify multiple times to the CA Board of Pharmacy.

Return to Campus Technology Questions Answered
IT will be holding a special session for the Aug. 4 Employee Lunch & Learn. This month’s session will specifically cover all things technology related for your return to campus. IT will not provide information regarding your departmental return to campus guidelines, but will provide you tips on how to best manage your technology needs when returning, how to receive the technology support you need. The Lunch and Learn will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 4. There will be a follow up session the following week for those that cannot attend due to Welcome Week activities. WesternU COMP Chief of Global Health Section Maryam Othman, MD, MPH, co-authored an article on the creation of WiRED International's "Citizen Vaccinators" program, which equips local residents with the skills to help vaccinate their community.
