WesternU College of Optomety students receive 2025 Practice Excellence Scholarships

WesternU College of Optometry students Braeden Rake and Catelyn Price received the 2025 Practice Excellence Scholarship from VSP Vision™ and the American Academy of Optometry Foundation (AAOF), according to a news release from VSP Vision: VSP Vision and American Academy of Optometry Foundation Award Nearly $200,000 in Scholarships


Funded by VSP Vision and administered by AAOF, nearly $200,000 was awarded to 50 top-performing, fourth-year optometry students at the accredited optometry schools in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. 


"We’re proud to champion the future of optometry and support these exceptional students as they pursue their dreams and embark on meaningful careers in eye care," said Michelle Skinner, Chief Provider and Industry Solutions Officer. "These scholarships are one of the many ways we are doubling down on the future of the optometric profession.”

Congratulations to Pharmacy Practice and Administration Department (PPAD) faculty for their accomplishments and contributions to the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP) conferences!


At the CSHP Seminar meeting in Chula Vista, Drs. Jignesh Patel and Rebecca Tran presented the following CE presentation:

Dr. Andrew Hean received a 2025 ACCP Annual Meeting Travel Award from ACCP’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Committee, which included a complimentary meeting registration and a travel stipend. As part of this award, Dr. Hean was paired with a mentor who he met with and who provided guidance for him at the meeting. Thanks to Dr. David Sanchez who provided Dr. Hean with a letter of support that helped him secure this award!
