WesternU College of Podiatric Medicine to expand virtual reality learning modules and financial aid with gifts from Dr. Bruce Lawrence and Mrs. Janet Lawrence

Western University of Health Sciences’ College of Podiatric Medicine is expanding its virtual reality (VR) operating room thanks to a $500,000 gift from Dr. Bruce Lawrence and Mrs. Janet Lawrence.

“The Lawrence family is an extremely generous supporter of advancing education,” said WesternU College of Podiatric Medicine Acting Dean Jacqueline Truong, DPM, MPH, FACFAS, DABPM.

“We see an opportunity to change the course of podiatric education and advance it to the next level while optimizing patient safety at the same time,” Truong said. “This type of investment in the future of podiatric education and through our College specifically really helps our College be on the forefront. Our students benefit from these developments tremendously. They will achieve competency in a more innovative and integrated curriculum that meets them where they’re at.”

Raíces y Rutas, A Latine Heritage Month Panel

You're Invited: Raíces y Rutas, A Latine Heritage Month Panel.

Noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8.

In celebration of Latine Heritage Month, the Office of Humanism invites you to join us for Raíces y Rutas: Roots and Routes, a panel conversation honoring the heritage, identities, and journeys of our Latine community.

Pomona: HEC Lecture Hall I

Lebanon: CHS-Northwest, Classroom 1210, with a livestream of the panel and our Oregon panelist joining in person

Virtual: Zoom link to be provided

This conversation brings together students, staff, faculty, and alumni from both campuses with roots across Latin America, including members of student organizations such as LAMA and HSDA. Our panelists will share the stories, cultures, and paths that led them into health care, and reflect on how where we come from shapes the way we care for others. It's an invitation to listen, to see ourselves and one another more fully, and to celebrate the richness our Latine colleagues and students bring to WesternU.

Refreshments and snacks will be provided at both campus locations, and all are welcome.
