Fort Drum Selection for Army Janus Nuclear Energy Program

Fort Drum has been selected as one of just five initial Army installations for the Janus Program, bringing next-generation nuclear energy technology to Upstate New York.

I fought to bring Project Janus to Fort Drum because our servicemembers need secure, around-the-clock power to carry out their mission. Through this program, Fort Drum will receive a 1-megawatt commercial microreactor to strengthen the installation’s energy resilience and advance American leadership in nuclear innovation.

This major investment will support Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division while ensuring one of our nation’s premier military installations remains mission ready.

Releasing My 2026 Tax Plan to Deliver Relief for New York Families, Workers, and Small Businesses

Hardworking New Yorkers should be able to keep more of the money they earn. As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I have worked to deliver tax relief for workers, families, seniors, farmers, and small businesses, and my 2026 Tax Plan builds on those efforts. The plan focuses on expanding opportunities to save for retirement, supporting Main Street businesses, encouraging investment in our communities, and helping family farms remain in the family for the next generation. Our tax code should reward hard work and create opportunities to save, invest, and grow, not send more of your hard-earned money to Washington.

Unveiling My 2026 “Make Voting Great Again” Plan to Strengthen Election Integrity

Confidence in our elections depends on clear rules, secure voting, and transparent administration that every American can trust. My 2026 Make Voting Great Again Plan advances commonsense safeguards including proof of citizenship, voter identification, accurate voter rolls, paper ballots, and clear Election Day deadlines while working to prevent noncitizen voting and foreign or private interference in election administration. As founder and Chair of the House Election Integrity Caucus, protecting the sacred right of every eligible American citizen to vote remains one of my top priorities. Elections must be free, fair, secure, and transparent so Americans can have confidence that every lawful vote is counted accurately.

As your representative in Congress, my top priority is championing legislative initiatives that benefit you and your families. Each week, I review numerous bills and letters, engaging in thorough discussions with members of our community to determine which actions to support and address your needs. Below are a few bills I recently cosponsored.

H.R. 1189, the National Plan for Epilepsy Act: This bill would establish a coordinated national strategy within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to prevent, diagnose, treat, and ultimately cure epilepsy. The bill would also establish a National Epilepsy Advisory Council and require regular reporting to Congress to evaluate federal investments and progress in epilepsy research, treatment, and care. With millions of Americans living with epilepsy, improving coordination across the federal government can help advance research and ensure resources are used effectively. This legislation strengthens our nation's response to epilepsy, supports the development of new treatments, and improves care and outcomes for patients and families.

H.R. 8925, the Job Corps and Skilled Defense Workforce Act: This bill would strengthen coordination of the federal Job Corps program with the workforce needs of the defense industrial base, helping prepare young Americans for skilled careers that are critical to our national security. America's defense industrial base depends on a reliable pipeline of skilled workers to build and maintain the ships, aircraft, weapons, and other systems our Armed Forces need. This legislation expands career opportunities for young Americans, strengthens the skilled trades, and ensures our defense industrial base has the workforce needed to support military readiness and national security.

H.R. 5800, the Standardized Assessment for Fluency in English for Drivers (SAFE Drivers) Act: This bill would require applicants for commercial driver's licenses (CDLs) to demonstrate English language proficiency before receiving a CDL. Specifically, it would require the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to establish a uniform English proficiency assessment that tests an applicant's ability to read and understand highway signs, communicate with law enforcement and the public, respond to official questions and instructions, and complete required reports and records. Ensuring commercial drivers can understand road signs and communicate effectively with law enforcement is essential to maintaining safety on America's highways. This legislation establishes consistent nationwide standards for commercial drivers and ensures that those operating large trucks and other commercial vehicles have the English proficiency needed to safely navigate our roads.

Niagara University Launch of the School of Cybersecurity

This week, our office attended Niagara University’s announcement of its new School of Cybersecurity, expanding opportunities for students to prepare for careers in one of our nation’s fastest-growing fields. Niagara’s cybersecurity program is recognized by the National Security Agency as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, providing students with specialized training for the evolving cybersecurity workforce. This new school will help equip the next generation with the skills needed to protect our businesses, critical infrastructure, and national security against emerging cyber threats. Congratulations to President Rev. James J. Maher, the faculty, and the entire Niagara University community on this exciting new chapter.

Pike Fair/Board of Supervisors Meeting

The Pike Fair is a great celebration of the families, agriculture, and traditions that make Wyoming County a special place. Every year, the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors holds a public meeting, and our team presented Congressional Certificates to local 4-H competitive shooting participants and their coaches in recognition of their achievements and hard work. Our team also joined local and state officials for a tour of the fairgrounds and had the chance to visit with residents enjoying this longstanding community tradition. Congratulations to the 4-H participants and coaches, and thank you to everyone whose hard work makes the Pike Fair possible each year.

Keuka College Ribbon Cutting

Our office joined Keuka College for a ribbon-cutting celebrating the progress made on the new Rural Community Outpatient Health Clinic, a project supported by $1.6 million in federal funding. Once completed, the clinic will give students in nursing, occupational therapy, and social work valuable hands-on clinical experience and expand opportunities for healthcare services in a community facing shortages of primary care and mental health providers. I am pleased to see this federal investment helping Keuka College prepare future healthcare professionals while addressing the needs of rural communities across our region.
