Dear Church of the Apostles, 

We continue our year-long prayer rhythm for missions. Each month we will focus our prayers on one of our mission partners and friends. We will have a report during a Sunday service, pray during Prayers of the People, and send out stories, needs, and requests each week for prayer. 

Join us this month as we pray alongside our mission friends, Emmaus Partnership. 

This week’s focus: For God’s Word to be available weekly in the neighborhood

Story

For each of our eight plus years, Emmaus has almost weekly distributed 200+ Scripture verses across the neighborhood. The community of Apostles has helped fund this effort. Through this small loving act of faith, we not only know but have experienced the blessing of God but have seen how combined with consistent presence the Lord has brought many opportunities to share his love.

Thanksgiving 

Those walking in the neighborhood with Emmaus were able to resume their presence this past Saturday! God gave many opportunities to reconnect with our neighbors. 

Prayer

For us to be able to continue our in-person presence. For wisdom and safety. For continued conversations and prayer. 

Please join together in praying with Emmaus throughout the week.

Mother's Day

This Sunday is Mother's Day! Join us at 9:15am in the courtyard for coffee and doughnuts. Also, bring flowers to help decorate the cross for Rogation Sunday.

Work Day

Join us for a work day on Saturday, May 8 (this coming Saturday) to move wood chips to the playground! We will will meet at the church at 12pm, rain or shine. Please bring shovels and wheelbarrows! All help is appreciated! RSVP to Jane Jackson.

Urgent need for our Mission Partner, Bridges: This week there was a three alarm house fire in the home of eight international students and the students lost everything. Help us show God's love to them by donating HERE.

We are hoping that these gifts will be a tangible way that these international students can see and experience God's love and care for them. 

Prayer against Human Trafficking

Join us for prayer against human trafficking every second Friday of the month at 9am, via Zoom. Next prayer time is May 14. RSVP to Jane Jackson.

Join us for an Ascension Service at 5pm on May 16. It will be an evening of praise and worship, followed by an outdoor dinner at 6pm. Please RSVP if you plan to come.

Join us as we read Be the Bridge: Pursuing God's Heart for Racial Reconciliation by Latasha Morrison and discuss it together. This will be in-person and online. We are opening a second group for Monday afternoons. Please RSVP to Jane Jackson and indicate whether you would join on Wednesday nights or Monday afternoon (or if you could attend either group).

Details for our next book:

We're reading A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle for Eastertide. We'll gather for our Discussion and Drive-In Movie Night on Saturday, June 5 in the church parking lot.

Discussion at 7:30 pm with the movie beginning just after sunset (approx. 8:25).

Popcorn and Cotton Candy will be provided. Bring your own lawn chair, jacket or blanket and beverages.
