Volleyball Fundraiser at Noodles and Company on Back to School Night!
Calm down the Back to School Night rush and head to Noodles & Co. in the Alexandria Commons plaza on Duke Street, near Bishop Ireton, to support the BI Volleyball team on Thursday, September 8! Mention BI Volleyball when you order a meal between 5 and 9 PM and a share of the proceeds will go to support the team.

Costuming Class
Need a Fine Arts Credit? Like the theater and doing something creative? Want to learn how to sew? Costuming may be the class for you! There's still time to join this fun and creative class. Back to School Night is TONIGHT
Back to School Night is TONIGHT (Thursday, September 8th) at 7 pm. Parking is at a premium, so keep that in mind when you are planning your arrival.
If you have yet to do so, parents are asked to have successfully signed into the Parent Portal on the new website before arriving at Back-to-School Night.
Mrs. Donna Mooney, Academic Enrichment and Resource Supervisor, will be presenting tonight at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium for parents of students with Student Assistance Plans.
The School Store will be open on Back to School Night --- be sure and stop by!
Tomorrow (Friday, September 9th) is a two-hour delay schedule.
The first bell will be at 9:40 am, the second bell at 9:50 am and first period begins at 9:55 am.

Class of 2017 College Night
Wednesday, September 14 at 7:00 pm in Whaley Auditorium
During this evening program, the school counselors will discuss the process and procedures specific to Bishop Ireton that all Seniors need to know about the college application process to ensure a smooth experience for all involved. In addition, college counselors from Bryant University and Bucknell University will discuss the current trends in admissions nationwide, how admissions decisions are made, and give tips on how to have a strong application.
All Seniors and at least one parent/guardian should attend this program. All members of the BI community are welcome!

NCAA Night at Bishop O'Connell High School
Bishop Ireton students and parents are invited to attend Bishop O'Connell's

AA night on Monday September 19 at 7 pm in the school auditorium. Mr.Stephen La Porta, Director of Compliance- Rules Education from James Madison University, Ms. Chandra Bierwrith, George Washington University Associate Athletics Director/Compliance, and representatives from George Mason University, American University, and Georgetown University will be guest speakers. The NCAA eligibility process, strategies and issues, and the Core Course GPA eligibility tracking system will be presented. All attendees will receive the 2016-2017 NCAA Eligibility Center information publication and log in information for the Core Course GPA standards and computations. Schedule Change Policy
A student may add or drop a course(s) during the first cycle of classes (B-N days) in September. All course changes must be approved by the Principal or designee. A fifty dollar ($50) fee is required for each schedule change after September 30.

Starting on Tuesday, September 13, the afternoon testing center will be open from 3:05 - 3:50 pm Monday-Thursday (except T Days) in Room 101.

Date Change: Music Parents Meeting
Please note the date change for the first Music Parent Meeting from Tuesday, September 13th to Tuesday, September 20th.

Going to France?
Paris Exchange Trip Participants: The airfare balance for the trip to Paris, November 17-27, is due by the end of the school day on Friday, September 9th. A check in the amount of $1335.72 should be made out to Bishop Ireton and should be turned in to Father B. or Mrs. Hughes. If there are any forms that you still need to turn in (i.e.: copy of passport, permission slip, etc...), those should also be given to, Father B or Mrs. Hughes.

Community Service Opportunities
St. Mary's Academy Annual Tea
Freshmen and National Honor Society Students - earn community service hours! We are looking for students to help serve former St. Mary's Alumnae at the annual St. Mary's Academy Tea. St. Mary's Academy was the girls school that joined with Bishop Ireton in 1990. We will need students on Sunday, September 25th from NOON until 4:30 pm.

School Clinic Reminders
A School entrance physical is different than the VHSL (athletic physical) and is required for all first year and transfer students. This form is due 15 September. It is submitted once during the high school career. The form can be
found here.
If your student needs medication during the school day, or carries an epipen or inhaler for an emergency, a doctor's order is required to be on file in the health clinic. Forms are on website under student life/student forms/health care forms and can be brought with the medication to the school clinic, located on the advisory hall in the main office.

Virtus Training Reminder

hop Ireton High School will be hosting a Virtus training session on Saturday, October 1, 2016 starting at 10 am for faculty, staff, and volunteers. You must pre-register to attend the Virtus Seminar online at
www.virtus.org
(click on "First-Time Registrant" on the left side and follow the instructions). There are many other Virtus sessions held within the Diocese that you may attend as well.
As a reminder, all employees and volunteers must attend Virtus training in addition to completing the Office for the Protection of Children/Young People (OPCYP) compliance paperwork packet. For additional details on OPCYP compliance requirements and mandatory training, review the memorandum

Introducing the Bishop Ireton Rosary by Athey Rosaries
The Bishop Ireton rosary is made with Swarovski pearls and crystals and features intricate pewter metalwork with a stunning Papal crucifix and Miraculous Medal centerpiece.
The beads are arranged to inspire a desire to pray.
