CTP Achievement Testing
Students in 4th-6th grade will begin the CTP Achievement Test ( Comprehensive Testing Program published by Educational Records Bureau)  next week.

Test dates are Jan. 14-18. Testing will begin each morning at 8:15 and conclude around 10:30 each day. (Achievement testing for K5-3rd grade will be in April.)
Starting Tuesday, January 8, Chick-fil-A Nuggets (with various sauces) will be served in the Lower School lunchroom each Tuesday.

Cost:
  • 6 piece Chicken Nugget box with one lunchroom side for $3.50
  • 6 piece Chicken Nugget box with no sides for $3.00

Upcoming Events from the High School Counseling Department!
We have a few very important events coming up. Please mark your calendars to attend.

● January 14, 2019 ­  Honors & AP Informational Meeting  7:00 pm in the BBB Auditorium. Students and parents of students, upcoming 9th ­- 12th grade for the 2019­-2020 school year, who are considering taking an honors or AP course or who are already taking these courses, should attend.

● January 28, 2019 ­  Roadmap to College  6:30 pm­ - 8:30 pm in the BBB Auditorium. This program is specific to current juniors and parents of current juniors, however, parents of any high school student may attend. “Need to know” information about the college search and application process will be presented. Breakout sessions to follow.

● January 29, 2019 ­  College Fair for Juniors  2:05 pm­ - 3:30 pm in the Junior High Gym. Juniors will be attending during 7th period. All junior parents are welcome to attend. Parents, please have your juniors read “Questions to Ask When Visiting Colleges” for ideas of questions to ask college admission reps located on the Briarwood Christian School website, (Academics tab, look to right for School Counseling,­ handout is located under the subtitle College Information)
Sports and Sportsmanship
Briarwood Christian School superintendent, Mr. Stephen Steiner, is pleased to announce that Coach Matthew Forester will immediately assume the duties of Head Varsity Football Coach succeeding Coach Fred Yancey, who announced his retirement on Monday, Nov. 26.
All State Football Honors
The following student athletes were selected by the Alabama Sports Writers Association for the 5A Classification All State Teams.
Noah Nall was selected
1st Team All State Offense.

Noah was also named the first-team All County kicker.
Mark Hand was selected
1st Team All State Defense.

Mark was also named to the 2018 All County 1st Team Defense.

Mark is also one of the impressive players that has been named a finalist for Lineman of the Year by the ASWA, which also makes him a finalist for the coveted Mr. Football awarded presented to the state’s top player.
Trent Howard was selected to the 2nd Team All State.

Trent was also named the 2018 All-County Offensive Lineman.
JR Tran-Reno was selected to the 2nd Team All State.

JR was also named the 2018 All-County Athlete.
All County 2nd Team honors went to Offensive Lineman Noah Whatley, a senior.
All County 2nd Team honors went to Defensive Lineman Dalton Brooks, a senior.
The Basketball teams continue to improve and are entering a tough January schedule.

The Varsity Boys' current record is 8 - 5.

The Varsity Girls' current record is 7-3.
