As we were just beginning to emerge from the fog of the COVID era, a friend gave me this wonderful card. It was printed on that huge and ancient printing press down at Ladyfinger Press in downtown Colorado Springs. If you have never been to see the printing press it is certainly worth the trip.
I keep this card in a central spot in the Dill house and I find myself repeating these six words to myself.
We will always figure it out.
I think these words are a nice proclamation of the resurrection life that God keeps inviting us into.
I hope that when you come and participate in the shared common prayer at this church that we all love, you get a sense of the strength of that commitment that we have to one another.
Central in our baptismal life is the promise to walk together and figure life out together, come what may.
We have some wonderful things that are coming up in this season of Epiphany light. On Sunday, January 22, we will share in our Annual Parish Meeting during the 10am service. We will elect new vestry leaders, celebrate all that has been, and look forward to all that is to come in our shared mission and ministry.
Then, I hope you can also join us on Wednesday, January 25 as we celebrate the ordination of Michael Thomas to the priesthood. Bishop Kai Ryan from the Diocese of Texas will be with us that evening to ordain Mike and to share in our prayers for him and his family as they begin this ministry together.
The following Sunday, January 29 between the 8 and 10am services, we will begin a new weekly offering in the Allen House called “Community Circle”. Each week a different member of our community will offer a glimpse of how God is alive and active in their lives. We warmly invite you to take your place in the circle.
There is so much richness and vitality in this church and there are so many good things ahead in our life together. Invite a friend to join us this Sunday and to share in what we are growing here as we keep learning new ways to proclaim God’s grace and love for us all.
See you Sunday!
David
