During the season of Lent, our kids are working on a weaving project that is taking shape week by week in the Nave.
Katherine Amos summarizes the blessing and challenge of Lent as:

  • Seeing ourselves as we are, as God sees us.
  • Focusing on our relationship with God by being aware of God's loving and living presence.
  • Admitting to God (and others, if necessary) where we have fallen short in our behavior and response to God's love and care.
  • Being aware of God's steadfast love and abundant mercy available at all times.
  • Believing that God can cleanse us, create a new heart within us, and deepen the loving relationship between God and ourselves.
  • Knowing that God desires a relationship of truth and love and works with us continually to develop a relationship with those qualities.
  • Trusting that God is willing not only to forgive us but also to "blot out" our iniquities.
  • Realizing how essential this loving relationship with God is to our joy and fulfillment in life.
  • Being willing and available to partner with God to assist, guide, and mentor others in their relationships with God.

One of the bedrock claims of our faith is that God is alive and active and present among us when we gather together and pray. During these holy days of Lent, I hope that you catch a glimpse of the God that Katherine Amos describes dwelling in the midst of our community. Join us during the Sundays of Lent and invite a friend to join us too as we journey together.

See you Sunday!

Community Circle
Sundays, 8:45a in Casey Hall

Join us every Sunday for a time of fellowship and exploration.
Each week a different member of our community will bring a different topic and then make space for conversation and sharing as together we encourage one another in the life of faith.

During the Season of Lent, we will continue reading together a wonderful book entitled,
“The Whole Language” by Gregory Boyle. It is available from online booksellers in hardcopy and electronic formats. Join us as we journey together through this provocative and challenging book. We will use this book as catalyst for our community-wide listening for where God will lead us in the coming days.
We warmly invite you to journey with us for what promises to be a very rich opportunity for spiritual growth and new relationships. Childcare will be available. All are very welcome.
Practicing Compassion
with all your Heart, Soul, Strength and Mind

Lent is a time for introspection and self reflection,
a time to reflect on the core of what it means to live a Christian life in the midst of great change and uncertainty. When facing change and uncertainty, practicing compassion becomes more central to that life so that we are freer to both receive and share the healing love of God.

We invite you to pick up a copy of this wonderful Lenten daily resource as together we journey through the season of Lent toward more health and wholeness.
Copies are available in the Narthex (back of the church).
Godly Play
Children’s Ministry every Sunday, 9:50a

Our children gather in the Loft upstairs from the narthex (church lobby) for a time of exploration and wonder called “Godly Play.” Parents and guardians are invited to sign in upstairs and children rejoin their families during the Offertory.

During Lent, we’ll work on a collaborative ongoing weaving project for the nave led by Cathy Sterling and Tinnin Leskera. Cathy will join Godly Play again this week to continue weaving with children and Tinnin will join us March 26 to introduce another part of the project. Families are welcome to stay and participate with the children! Many thanks to Pikes Peak Weavers Guild for donating the yarn.

If your children haven’t joined us yet, they are most welcome, and we look forward to meeting and getting to know them.
