This Week at Charlotte Lab School
Dear Parents,

Believe it or not, next Tuesday is the end of our first trimester, and I want to share with you how you can expect to learn about your child's academic progress at this point in the year. Please mark your calendars for the following:

  • Your child's progress report will be sent home on November 30; this will provide an overview of his/her performance in all subject areas. If you or your child have questions about the report, please be sure to make note of your questions and bring them to your advisory conference.
  • Advisory conferences will take place between Dec 10-14. All parents are encouraged to participate in an advisory conference at this time. Be on the lookout for an email from your child's advisor to sign up for a conference time. Please note that 4th-7th graders will be leading their own conferences, so stay tuned for additional information coming soon.

Even with everything going on this month, we are already looking ahead to next year. If you have another child in your family that would like to attend Charlotte Lab School, you will complete a standard lottery application for Sibling Preference during our Open Application Period. The lottery application form will be made available on our website under Enrollment/Applying to Lab from January 9 - February 20, 2019. Our lottery will be held on February 27, 2019.

Please remember that while we cannot guarantee siblings a place at Lab, our lottery prioritizes Lab siblings and we work hard to keep families together as much as possible.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Caele Gambs.

Action Required
There are a lot of deadlines this week! We created this checklist to help you remember to:
  • Select a student photo for yearbook (Nov 16)
  • Save 15% on early bird school photo orders (Nov 16)
  • Sign up to bake/buy a Thanksgiving Pie for our teachers (Nov 16)

Thanksgiving Pie Event
Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful, and at Lab, we have much to be thankful for! Please consider helping the Staff Appreciation Committee express our gratitude by baking (or buying) a pie for our wonderful staff members to share with their families this Thanksgiving. We'll take care of boxing and delivering pies to staff.

Pies must be delivered to the school on Tuesday, November 20 by 9:30 am. We will have a drop off station near the walker and carpool lines. You can also deliver your pie to the office.

New Lab Spirit Wear
The online spirit wear site will be open from now through Wednesday, November 21. The sale will include 2 new items - a long sleeve navy logo shirt and a winter beanie hat - as well as a few sweatshirt and jacket options. Items will be delivered to the school and sent home before the holiday break.

Questions? Contact Paige Choate.
School Photos Make-Up & Ordering
As you know, St John's Photography recently took your child's student portrait at school. These photos will appear in Lab's yearbook and are available for purchase. Please note that action is required by all parents!

All Families must select their child's photo to appear in the yearbook no later than Nov 23.
All orders placed by Nov 23 receive 15% off the entire order ($25 minimum), and the school also earns 15% back as a fundraiser.

Please refer to the email sent by the school on Wednesday, Nov 7 for details about ordering and yearbook selection.

Monday, November 19 is the make-up day for any student who missed the original picture day at school. All Middle School Advisory groups will also be taking a group picture. Please remember that uniforms are required!

Questions? Contact Jaime Rentch.
