Join Us for Assessment Night!
|
|
Dear Parents,
I’m writing this week to strongly encourage all families to attend our first Assessment Night, which will be held at the Lower School,
next Tuesday, October 16 at 6:30pm. This is a new event this year offered in response to parents’ desire to learn more about how assessment works at Lab and to answer many of your questions about assessment, testing, and the school report card.
Please join me and the Instructional Leadership team to learn about:
- The history of standardized testing, the rise of the “accountability movement,” and the future of assessment;
- Lab’s philosophy and beliefs about assessment;
- All the ways Lab assesses your child’s learning;
- Different assessments you can expect your child to take this year,
- Ways to support your child at home,
- How to make sense of your child’s assessment results, and
- How to talk to your child about assessment results.
To make the sessions even more personalized, we will be walking you through the process of making sense of your child’s recent MAP test scores. Students in grades 3-7 will bring home their test results this Friday; please bring these with you to the event.
ALL lower school AND middle school families are welcome
and encouraged to attend. We will provide details on parking and child care in Friday folders and next week's enewsletter.
We can’t wait to see you there and look forward to answering all of your questions about assessment at Lab and how we are working to ensure that every child continues to grow and is on the path to college readiness!
Sincerely,
Dr. Mary Moss
Executive Director
