This Week at Charlotte Lab School
|
|
Today, I want to recognize the important work of the
Parent-Teacher-Student Organization (PTSO) and
encourage you to join. Our PTSO works alongside our staff to help build and nurture the Lab community, contributing to our students' academic and personal growth. By creating and promoting an educational partnership and providing an avenue of communication between home and school, the PTSO plays a key role in advancing the mission and vision of the school.
I want to thank this year's
PTSO Board Members and Committee Chairs for their leadership as well as the 105 families who have already joined. Through your support, the PTSO has been able to provide 15 sponsorships for families or staff members and is 70% of the way to reaching their goal of $3,500 to put toward staff appreciation and classroom support.
It's never too late to join!
We hope all families will get involved. You can:
- Become a Member: Print a membership form or pick one up from the front office.
We hope that you take advantage of one of these ways to
support the PTSO and the entire Lab community.
Learn more about the PTSO and email PTSO President,
Jaime Rentch, if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mary Moss
Executive Director

Believe it or not, Lab school made close to
$1000 from Box Tops last year!
It’s a simple way to earn free money for our school. Simply look for the box tops on packaged items, clip them out, and send them in with your child. We will begin collecting for this school year on
Friday, October 5. At the end of each trimester, the homeroom that has collected the most will get a pizza party.

One of the great secrets to parenting is that raising children is actually a long workshop in
re-parenting
ourselves
. When we start to name our wounds, our emotional triggers, and understand how we adapted survival skills to manage our discomfort in life, we can see that many, if not most of the old rules we used to live by no longer work for us when we have children. There are four simple ways to practice letting go of your old patterns of reacting to stress that can start to help you
feel more calm and confident as a parent
