This Week at Charlotte Lab School
Dear Lab Families,

With the beginning of the new year, we are pleased to announce the official launch of the 2019 Lab Innovation Fund, our annual fundraising campaign. We began informally on #GivingTuesday in November, and I am happy to share that as of January 1, we have raised $87,000 toward our $300,000 goal!

As we continue our annual fundraising through the spring, we hope that you will make a financial commitment to the school at a level that is personally meaningful to you. A gift of any size will have a positive impact on our community and enable us to reach our ambitious goals. This year, we are raising money to support the TOP THREE things that make being part of Lab special.

  • Personalized & Authentic Learning Fund: Lab’s emphasis on personalized and real-world learning is one of the main reasons that families tell us they have chosen to attend and stay at Lab! Thanks to generous donations, we are able to provide innovative curriculum, hands-on learning, and the resources and tools necessary to make sure your child is learning at a level that is right for him/her. There is more we want to do to make our vision become a reality, and your support will help us realize our goals.

  • Talent Fund: We don’t want to brag, but our teachers are simply the best! We are able to recruit, train, and keep our amazing and most dedicated staff thanks to the donations that you make to Lab. Without your ongoing support, we will not be able to provide competitive salaries for our faculty or offer essential professional development opportunities that ensure our staff stays up-to-date with the latest training and tools necessary for 21st century learning.

  • Global Learning Fund: Creating a truly integrated school—one that reflects the diversity of Charlotte's population and prepares students for a global workplace—is not only our passion, it is what is best for all students and our future. Your donations support student and staff diversity efforts, the world language program, and cultural competency initiatives, all of which are necessary to be successful in college and career.

By supporting this year's Lab Innovation Fund, you can be sure that your gift of any amount will enhance the learning environment and be put to good use. A donation of any amount will make a difference for our school. The most important thing is that each family donate to show their support and commitment to the work that we are doing. You may make a donation in one of the following ways:

  • DONATE OTHER WAYS: Lab accepts gifts of securities and will work with you to set up legacy, memorial, or tribute gifts. Please contact Susannah Lund, Head of External Affairs, to discuss a giving program that works best for you.

  • MATCHING GIFTS: Don't forget to let us know if your company has a matching gift program. As a registered 501(c)3, we are eligible to receive matching funds and all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent provided by law.

New this year, we invite those families who are able, to join our Collaborators Circle with a gift of $1,000 or more. Not only will you be part of a group of individuals who are leading the way financially to improve the lives of our students, you will be invited to leadership donor programs and events throughout the year. Please consider joining the 100+ individuals who support the school at this level.

Your donations are essential to the success of our school. Our goal is to complete this year's campaign no later than May 1, so please make your gift today!

Sincerely,

Dr. Mary Moss
Executive Director

Keeping the New Year's Resolution
It’s hard to believe we’ve rounded the corner to another New Year. You may be feeling the effects from the holidays, propelling you into a fast and furious resolve to make change in the New Year. As much as I love the idea of the resolution tradition, I’ve come to learn that often, they don’t stick. We make idealistic resolutions attempting them for a week or two, and before we know it, we’re back to our old habits. The reason is simple: human nature has us bite off more than we can chew.
