Congratulations to Pria Anand, MD!
Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Neurology Pria Anand, MD, whose book, The Mind Electric, was named a finalist for the 2026 PEN America E.O. Wilson Literary Science Writing Award. It recognizes a work that exemplifies literary excellence on the subject of the physical or biological sciences and communicates complex scientific concepts to a lay audience. The winners will be announced at the PEN America literary awards ceremony in March.

The Disability Advocacy Team (DAT) amplifies the experiences of people with disabilities and chronic conditions. Through advocacy, curriculum change and community education, DAT fosters a culture that recognizes disability as an essential identity and ensures that people of all abilities can thrive.

Anatomy Academy is a community-based program where medical students engage K–12 learners through fun lessons and hands-on activities to promote healthy lifestyle habits and learn about basic human anatomy. By serving as role models and mentors, they aim to inspire early interest in STEM and future careers in medicine.

The Outreach Van Project (OVP) provides consistent, dependable support to medically underserved communities in Greater Boston while expanding access to essential health services. Founded in 1997, OVP continues to offer students meaningful opportunities to learn community outreach skills while building trust with clients across the city.

Panelists will present their work, addressing the biological, social and systemic drivers of pain. The program will feature welcoming remarks by Dean ad interim Hee-Young Park, PhD. Venetia Zachariou, PhD, Edward Avedisian Professor and chair of pharmacology, physiology & biophysics, will moderate the panel discussion followed by Q&A. Panelists: Daniel Alford, MD, MPH, Marc LaRochelle, MD, MPH, Travis Rotterman, PhD and Daniel Taub, PhD.
