Healthcare Continuing Education Professional Day

January 24 is Healthcare Continuing Education Professionals DayTM, a day dedicated to celebrating the clinical and administrative professionals who ensure that clinicians stay informed, competent and capable of delivering the best possible care to their patients. The Barry M. Manuel Center for Continuing Education would like to thank the faculty and staff who have worked with us over the years to bring outstanding continuing education to clinicians. Through our approximately 600 annual programs we have worked to improve practice using quality improvement methods, educating more 300,000 clinicians on pain management and safer opioid prescribing, mentoring healthcare teams through Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) projects on autism, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders and migraine prevention, and imparting expertise on pediatric nutrition to pediatricians in 75 countries around the globe, to name just a few. We look forward to continuing our part to improve outcomes for our patients at BMC and for patients in communities far and wide.

What services does Disability & Access Services offer, and what are the processes for approaching the office for support? What strategies can educators use to approach students who may be reluctant to ask for help or use services due to stigma or cultural influences? What disabling conditions may not be immediately perceived but still qualify for services, and how can we support students with these conditions?

These and more questions that have been generated by the BUMC community will be addressed in this session and will include current insight from the recent December 2024 BUMC Accessibility Workshop. Attendees are encouraged to peruse the online resources in advance.

Boston University is committed to accessibility in our facilities, programming, and academic offerings. If you have a disability-related accommodation need or require communication access services, please contact the event organizer Elaine Lee to discuss your needs.
