Children’s Ministry Programs
We want to thank Anne Vasiliadis for covering the Nursery last Sunday. Anne’s kindness and expertise made a real difference. Miss Mary returns this Sunday. Miss Ann will lead Children’s Chapel along with Barbara Ferry and Cindy Winder. Halloween is over, but we still have saint-o-lanterns to make!  Shepherding Sunday brings children and parents together to decorate saint pennants and to hear a Godly Play Story of All Saints. We will gather at Coffee Hour!

Be a Saint! Join this week's Shepherding Sunday to celebrate All Saints Day!   WHY? All Saints Day teaches us that we all belong to a much larger family than we thought. What a lovely surprise for our children! Help us give witness to God’s family—here on earth and in heaven! How comforting to learn that loved ones who have died live on as saints with God. How hopeful to know that each of us is called to be a saint every day…and one day with God’s heavenly family. Today’s Shepherding Sunday invites everyone at Coffee Hour to join parents and children in making pennants to honor a beloved Saint/saint--whether famous for mighty deeds or remembered for simple acts of kindness.
Youth Group What do we believe about God the Son? As part of our Spirituality 101 curriculum, we'll be taking a deeper dive into our beliefs about the second person of the Trinity: Jesus. What does it mean to be a follower of Jesus? What do we believe about Him? Bring your thinking caps and faithful hearts for a lively discussion this Sunday!

IT’S ARCOLA ELEMENTARY THANKSGIVING FOOD BAG TIME!  There are so many families that can’t afford food for their children, which is why Arcola Elementary provides two healthy meals during the school day to children in need. But what happens when there is an extended holiday? Our parish generously steps in to fill bags of nourishing food and food gift cards to help those families in need make it through the holidays.
How do you give the gift of food?
  • Pick a pumpkin, turkey, acorn or leaf from the “patch” on the Outreach table.
  • Take the food shopping list and/or donation envelope (if you don’t have time to shop) and fill a bag of food for the children. (Note: these items are specific and requested by the school.
  • Return filled food bags to Church no later than Sunday, November 24th (sorry, no exceptions!)
It’s not only a fun and rewarding experience for the whole family, but you are Making a Difference in the lives of many children and their families who live in our own “backyard.” For questions, contact Virginia Sheard at 301-949-3372 or webethemom@aol.com .
