Dear friends,

First, I hope you and yours are safe and cool. Check on your neighbors! Take water with you for someone you may see on the street. It's dangerous to be out in the heat.

Second, we will consider some amazing stories about hospitality in this Sunday's service: Abraham and Sarah entertaining visiting angels unawares; Mary and Martha welcoming Jesus to dine at their home. Last week we considered the powerful actions of the parable of the Good Samaritan, the neighbor who showed mercy. Jesus was unequivocal: go and do likewise.

I mentioned the Joint Statement of the Bishops of the six Episcopal Dioceses in Texas. You can find it here .

To hear Presiding Bishop Michael Curry's reflection on "Who is my Neighbor?" click here . More concrete opportunities to follow. In the meantime, hold tight to the power of the love of the God of justice, love and mercy and the our love of all our neighbors as ourselves. In that wide welcome, there is great joy.

Blessings to each,

THANK YOU to all who helped with
Vacation Bible School 2019!

Last week, Christ Church hosted 30 children half from the church and half from the community for God's Glorious Garden. It was wonderful.

Cindy Winder and Ann Enkiri wish to express our shared appreciation to all of the adult and youth parishioners who shared their time and talent with the campers attending Vacation Bible School. Ellie Flynn, Grace Brown and Claire Blackman welcomed six other neighborhood youth to work directly with the campers aged 4-9. Their exemplary work ethic, kindness, and talents supported the adult leaders and enriched the campers' experience.

Adult parishioners participated throughout the week--some daily, some on multiple days, others for a morning or afternoon. Each volunteer made an activity possible or enriched the curriculum with an activity, a song, a story, a service, a donation: Kitty Shuler, Liz Quinn, Andrea McGray, Dwight Allen, Stephanie Feller MacDonald, Cynthia Mitchell, Kate Duchelle Smith, Nora Buckley, Sarah Forman, Allison Mondel, Virginia Sheard, Amy Brown, Aime Keith, Teodora Salow. Thank you one and all!

Give Choir a try this summer!
Our summer choir (for the 10am service) begins with a rehearsal at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings in the choir room, followed by singing in the 10am Eucharist. All are most welcome to sing in the summer choir -- in fact, this is a wonderful time to "try out" the choir without the commitment of a mid-week rehearsal. Summer Choir runs for the rest of July! Questions? Send an e-mail to Teddy Guerrant ( ).
