Dear friends,

Happy Labor Day Weekend! I hope you'll join us for worship tomorrow - a way to launch a new school year for some and a return to a different rhythm of life for others. We'll consider the beautiful notion of the Kingdom of God as a grand party to which all are invited, especially those who thought their invitation most certainly got lost in the mail. So come join us around the table tomorrow and in the streets on Monday. There's room for all at the party.

Labor Day Parade Preparation :  

  • Join us in the Parish Hall after ALL the Sept. 1st Sunday services (8, 10 and 5) to write a short message on a sign to carry in the parade. “Be Kind.” “Love One Another.” “Love. Forgive. Repeat.”

THIS MONDAY - It's the Kensington Labor Day Parade :
Join us for a fabulous morning of fun and an opportunity to be God's love messengers through the streets of K'ton.

Don your red and/or pink gear —t-shirt, shorts, walking shoes, hat, visor. Don’t forget sunscreen!

Meet the Christ Church group on Plyers Mill Court, off Plyers Mill Rd, between Lexington and St. Paul's Streets, across from St. Paul's Park. We're group #6.

  • Coffee & Doughnut tailgating begins at 8:30!
  • Pick up a heart-shaped sign and be ready to walk by 9:30. 
  • Consider car-pooling from our church parking lot. Parking may be available on a lot on Concord Street, between Dupont Avenue and Plyers Mill Road.

This Week at Christ Church

Prime Timers Luncheon This Thursday
The Prime Timers will meet in the church undercroft on Thursday, September 5th from 11:30 -1:30 for social time, lunch and to enjoy a speaker. The cost of the lunch is $10.00.  Please RSVP to Nora Buckley at or 301-564-0689 by Monday, September 2 to let her know you are coming and if you wish to order a lunch. The speaker will be Bill Offutt and the title of the presentation is: "Richard Montgomery: Montgomery County’s namesake."
Teddy Guerrant in Concert
THIS FRIDAY, Sept 6th at 8PM!
 Our organist Dr. Theodore Guerrant will present a concert of  "Great Organ Music from Great Britain." The hour long program will consist of works by Grayston Ives, Norman Cocker, Samuel Sebastian Wesley, Alfred Hollins, William Wolstenholme, Charles Hubert Hastings Parry, John Ireland, Charles Villiers Stanford, Edward Elgar, and Herbert Sumsion. An English tea will follow the program. 
A free-will offering will benefit the parish music ministry. All are cordially invited to attend. Prepare to be wowed. Bring your friends.
Bible Study continues this Sunday at 4:00pm Please join us this summer for Bible study as we read Samuel and learn about the rise of Kings over Israel and a young fellow named David! All are welcome and prior preparation is not necessary. For questions contact Lee Puricelli at .

Come join us for 30 minutes after work to pray!   Every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m., some of us come together for a brief time of Evening Prayer with Holy Eucharist. It combines the end-of-the day liturgy with familiar prayers and a time for personal meditation and communion. Come join us for a time of fellowship and prayer; see what a difference it makes in your week!

IT’S ALMOST TIME FOR THE PARISH PICNIC! Annual Parish Picnic on Sunday, September 8th following the 10 a.m. service. This is always a fun event to mark the end of Summer and the beginning of our Fall activities. Hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, water and lemonade will be provided and we’re asking parishioners to bring side dishes and desserts.

Tex-Mex Dinner & Silent Auction - Everything but the Kitchen Sink!
Saturday, September 28, 6 - 8:30pm 

Silent Auction throughout the evening; last bids at 8pm

Doors open at 6pm. Dinner is at 6:30pm; Last auction bids at 8pm. We are planning a delicious Tex Mex Feast of Chicken/Shrimp/Chicken Fajitas with your favorite Tex Mex Fixin’s.

Cost is $20 (individual) and $40 family (up to four people). Sangria and Mexican Beer will be available for a small donation. Silent Auction items will continue to be accepted until September 15th.
