Interfaith Rotating Shelter

Every winter, houses of worship in New Brunswick unite to open their doors to our unhoused neighbors. We rotate from church to church each week and typically house about 15 men. The shelter runs from 28 December to 16 March, when the temperatures are below freezing. Christ Church will be hosting again on 8 March to 15 March.

The ministry has been running for over 20 years, and is recognized by our homeless neighbors and by community leaders as compassionate, life-saving, and much needed. This year, our needs are:

· Volunteers to stay overnight with the guests

A full shift is 7 PM – 7AM and partial shifts are possible.

At Christ Church, volunteers will typically sleep in the choir room from 11 PM – 5:30 AM and then start the coffee pots.

· Volunteers to help with move-out and cleaning on Sunday, March 15th

· Volunteers to cook or bring meals for 15 guests + 3 volunteers

· If you can’t volunteer your time, you can also donate supplies or money

To sign up for a shift or meal, please reach out to Jason Kaelber at

interfaithrotatingshelter@gmail.com or 848 228 3620. We also have volunteer openings January 18-30 at First Reformed Church and elsewhere, so you need not restrict yourself to the days Christ Church is hosting.

Thank you for supporting this ministry and the homeless men of

New Brunswick!

Join St. Alban’s online each Thursday evening from 7pm- 8pm for Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. St. Alban’s has encouraged the wider community to join us and many of the attendees come from different congregations locally as well as internationally.

We invite people to testify if they are prayerfully led and also encourage them to send their prayer requests in advance if they wish. Some attendees come prepared from time to time to not only testify, but to give a word of encouragement.

Please see the Zoom invitation below.

A Shared Vision: Vestry Adopts New

Parish Mission Statement

On the evening of January 13, 2026, the Vestry met to take a significant step in our journey together. With a spirit of gratitude and hope, the Vestry formally voted to adopt a new Mission Statement to guide our life and ministry in New Brunswick:

"Christ Episcopal Church is a diverse and inclusive Christian community. We bear witness to the love and justice of Christ through worship, music, and service."

What does this mean for us? A mission statement is more than just words on a page; it is a promise. By adopting this statement, we are reaffirming our commitment to being a place where all are truly welcome. It centers our communal life on three pillars that have long defined us:

· Worship: Coming together to be fed by Word and Sacrament.

· Music: Lifting our voices and spirits through our rich choral and instrumental traditions.

· Service: Stepping outside our doors to seek justice and offer love to our neighbors in the City of New Brunswick.

Looking Ahead In the coming weeks, you will see this statement appear in our Sunday bulletins, on our website, and throughout our social media. We invite you to pray with these words and consider how they call you—and all of us—to deeper discipleship in the year ahead.

We are a community defined by the love and justice of Christ. Let us go forth and bear witness together!
