Celebrating our confirmands being confirmed today! At 10am this morning, Grace Bullard, Limbani Chaponda, Charlie Eckert, Cora Flynn, and Brenden Puente will all confirmed at the National Cathedral. Confirmation is a rite where people affirm the vows made at baptism. Whether you were baptized as an infant or as an adult, this is a time to renew and affirm your faith. We congratulate each of them and celebrate their journey of faith!
Happy Mother’s Day tomorrow! Family Plant Out of Children's Garden immediately following the 10 AM Holy Eucharist. Stop by the garden along the driveway and help us plant a few flowers!
Youth Group   This week's youth group is split. We'll be learning about how doubt affects our faith.
  • The Gathering (6th/7th grade): Join Kitty for a discussion of C.S. Lewis.
  • The Loft (8th-12th grade): Join Madi to learn about Evelyn Underhill.
Bible Study is on hiatus this week , but will resume next Sunday at 4:00pm  Join the Bible study this Easter season as we read Ezra and Nehemiah to learn about the Hebrews return from exile, the building of the second temple, and issues with the neighbors. All are welcome and prior preparation is not necessary. For questions contact Lee Puricelli at leepuricelli@yahoo.com .
Sunday School and Children's Chapel
Since Palm Sunday, we have been collaborating at our Chapel gathering to make one faith project to share with our congregation when we bring up the gifts. This has proven very effective for a calm and focused activity prior to our Children's Liturgy of the Word.

At Sunday School, we have been coming together in a multi-age group and using our wonderful Godly Play resources to respond to God's Word, with children who read supporting the younger children in their learning.

Thanks to Cindy Winder, Barbara Ferry, Andrea Dorf McGray, Stephanie Feller MacDonald, Liz Quinn and John Ward for co-leading these worship and educational activities.
Busy-ness getting you down? Need a mid-week break?  The evening service every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. combining Evening Prayer with Holy Eucharist Rite II just might be the answer. A Prayer Book service, it combines the end-of-the day liturgy, including familiar canticles, a brief homily with a time for personal meditation, and the Communion service using varying Eucharistic Prayers. We look forward to your joining us!
Craft and Cake Group this Thursday evening, May 16 at 7:30PM  Please join us every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month for fellowship, “Crafting & Cake.” Bring a craft... join some friends... have some cake. Open to all who “enjoy the art of making” 7:30-9:30 in the Gathering Room, located on the lower level of the Education Wing. Contacts: Pam Prindle ( pamelaprindle@gmail.com ) or Emily Barry ( emilybarry@me.com )
Recital at Christ Church this Saturday at 8PM! Baritone (and Christ Church parishioner) Richard Giarusso and pianist Andrew Jonathan Welch will present a recital at Christ Church on the evening of Friday, May 24 at 8:00 PM. The program, sponsored by the Georgetown Chorale, features songs of Gerald Finzi, Gustav Mahler, and Benjamin Britten. A free-will offering will support Yachad of Greater DC, the Chorale's 2019 beneficiary.
Bethesda Cares Sandwich Brigade Needs Volunteers   As so many of our have youth grown up and moved away, many of the families who were members of the Sandwich Brigade have also move away. So our Sandwich Brigade is looking for more families to join in and all it takes is one Saturday, once a year! You would be making about 60 sandwiches and delivering them to Bethesda Cares Saturday morning. This is a great family activity (all ages), we provide full instructions and believe me, it’s not only fun, but rewarding! If you are interested, please contact Liz Quinn at webethemom@aol.com or 301-775-2545.

 LOOKING AHEAD

Saturday, June 1st is the 6th Annual Colleen's BA 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk to benefit the Colleen Mitchel Memorial Fund.  The Fund was established in memory of Colleen Mitchel, who was born with biliary atresia (BA) in 1993, had a liver transplant at 7 months old, and died in 2013 at 19 years old from complications due to liver disease, while waiting on the transplant list over four years.

Colleen was a member of Christ Church, and attended Grace Episcopal Day School, North Bethesda MS, Walter Johnson HS and the University of Michigan. Thanks to the Colleen Mitchel Memorial Fund and the annual BA 5K, over $130,000 has been donated to support organ donation awareness in the DC area and ground-breaking research at the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Center into the root cause of BA and improving outcomes of children living with liver disease and post-transplant! Please come out and join this wonderful community event along Beach Drive in Kensington - by running, walking or volunteering. For details on the Run and to register, please go to www.colleensba5k.org .
