A Special Message of Thanks from
Charlie Briggs

Dear Friends,

I want to give you my most heartfelt thanks for your support during my recent “times of
the troubles.” But isn’t that what community is all about: I help you when you have needs; you help me when I need it; and the bottom line remains indistinct and hazy.

During the first week of my hospitalization. I came close to death Since then I have been clawing my way upward toward some semblance of normality. During that first week I was being held captive by someone somewhere, but I knew my daughter (Thank you, Elizabeth) was at my side and that I was surrounded by “so great a cloud of witnesses.” With this support I was able to argue—vigorously, insistently, imaginatively, and finally, successfully—that I should be allowed to return to my family. And what is community but family writ large.

So thank you for a debt I can never repay, although I will try to pay it down every chance I get
Thank you for caring and for sharing that with me...
Thank you for being the community that you are...
Thank you for including me in that community.

Peace & love,
