FROM THE ORGAN LOFT

I am delighted to have returned to our beautiful sanctuary. As we journey through March, I want to spotlight the significant contributions of Black composers to sacred music that continues to enrich our worship experience here at Christ Church.

I'm especially excited to announce that on Sunday, March 23rd, we will host a special service celebrating the profound beauty and spiritual depth of African American spirituals. This service will feature exceptional musical offerings, including a performance by our distinguished guest musician, Greg Lorenz. Many of you will remember Greg's magnificent voice from our Lessons and Carols service and Christmas Eve celebration. A former Metropolitan Opera singer, Greg brings extraordinary talent and artistry to our worship, and we are blessed to welcome him back to Christ Church for this meaningful occasion.

 Note'bly,

Suzanne

Paul Ambos, will be placing a new card order on the morning of Monday, April 7. Please place your orders accordingly. If you plan to mail him an order with a check, please (a) mail it by Wednesday, April 2, or, better, (b) advise him by email when you mail it of what your order is so he can place it on time despite possible Post Office delays. Or, if you place your own order directly on the RaiseRight website or app, Paul will be able to see it there when he orders the monthly batch.

You can avoid writing Paul a check by using their payment options through your checking account of credit card (checking costs a 29 cent charge per order; credit cards charge a percentage that is usually more).  And if you want physical cards delivered directly to your home, you can do that through the app, although you will be charged for delivery.  If you order for delivery through him, the church covers the delivery charge.

Vestry Corner:

Key Topics from the March 2025

Vestry Meeting

1. A discussion was held on identifying candidates to lead the Stewardship efforts for this year. Vestry members will talk with certain individuals to help up discern the best approach for Christ Church.

2. The Vestry celebrated the return of heat to the Sanctuary. Two new boilers were installed at a total cost of a little over $40,000. Insurance has already reimbursed us for almost $28,000 of the total expense, resulting in a net cost of a little over $12,000 for the parish.

3.A lively discussion was held on scheduling events for spring and summer at the church. If you have any ideas or would like to participate in this process, please contact a Vestry member

Minutes of the February 2025 meeting can be found HERE.

Lenten Series Bread of Life

Nourish your soul with Bread of Life. When the world feels heavy—divided and uncertain—hearts ache, minds seek peace, and souls hunger for hope. In these moments, while many search for a way forward, the bread of life reminds us of abundance. There is enough love, grace, and hope for all.

Bread of Life highlights how Jesus fed people—not just their bodies but their souls—with good news, redemption, and stories of God’s kin(g)dom. From wedding feasts to eating with tax collectors to feeding thousands, people left Jesus’ presence with full hearts and bellies. Bread of Life provides everything you need to set the table and equip all ages in your congregation and community to be nourished, both in body and spirit.

As we journey through Lent, from the wilderness to the shorelines of Galilee, we will find the sacred in the ordinary—like bread, simple yet essential. This Lent, gather your community together to break bread, savor in the divine generosity of God, and rise to share with the world out of the abundance we have received from the bread of life.

The Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM) and the Office of Government Relations (OGR) have launched a new Immigration Action Toolkit page on the Episcopal Church website.

This toolkit consolidates a wide range of resources in one place, making it a go-to destination for immigration information. While some resources focus on the Episcopal Church's response to the current situation, it also includes helpful links on topics like Family Preparedness and Know Your Rights, which are valuable to people of all faiths or none at all.

To stay updated on this ever-evolving issue and hear from knowledgeable

experts, a 30-minute weekly webinar is available. You can register here.
